If I still was 17 years old I would think its cool. Now - No!

A bunch of drugaddicts straped in a place made for rats...

Now I just like to work out in normal gym, lift weights, meet normal people (who got other things in life than a shaker and bagypants) having normal conversations with both girls and men.

It's one of the few gyms in the world I'd like to work out: Golds (original?), Temple, and Musclecenter of course......and maybe that Ronnie gym.

Agreed. Unfortunately like the idiot I am it took me 14 years to realise this.  :-\

Trained there on and off for a few years. Leg room is my favourite.

Trained there before. Never again. Terrible equipment condition. Can't find correct weights. Smells like ass. I get the hardcore aspect, but draw a line a some point.

Cool as hell, but as a powerlifter I would hate how it's so jammed with, to my mind, useless and unneeded equipment. There's no damn room to lift. It would be a chore finding a good place to set up for a deadlift session, for instance.

P.S. And for a joint so hardcore, where were the folks squatting, deadlifting, rowing off the floor, etc.?

I've never understood the draw of working out in a place that looks like a meth house.

haha, gayer than going to the gym to have "conversations" and a latte with Jeremy and Steve after a core workout on the stability ball.

You deadlift from the floor inside the power cage at Temple Gym, same for squats, same for rows.

Gym looks like shite and is definitely not for the claustrophobic! I remember hardcore gyms in the 90's(Johnny Lats, Natural Physique) that were better spaced and equipped than this dive. :-\

Place has some cardio now whereas back in the 90's that area had a platform for deadlifts etc. the only cardio back then was a warmup bike.

Out of curiosity, how many active members would Temple have during a good year?

When I was last there I would estimate there was at least forty or fifty "regulars" who would be in there at least four times a week but obviously not all at the same time - a lot of guys go in there first thing in the morning and then there's the lunchtime lot and the evening lot.

I used to train there around 5pm after work and there would be at least twenty or thirty of us in on a good day.

You should train in my formal gym (that weightlifting club, remember?). That place was loaded with middle aged men who enjoy music from old farts, holding a guitar.
The owner almost got a meltdown when he heard my Disturbed CD (everyone can play their own stuff in case no one is training), good memories...
