Ubisoft's "Watch Dogs" a big surprise at E3
LOS ANGELES - The video game industry's showings at E3 2012 make it clear that sequelitis remains very much a part of the gaming world, but new ideas can indeed capture attention at Los Angeles Convention Center. The show's biggest surprise seems to be something that Ubisoft calls "Watch Dogs." The French games publisher unveiled the title during the company's pre-E3 presentation on Monday. From what has been shown so far, "Watch Dogs" will be a mysterious cyberpunk title exploring themes of electronic surveillance, data aggregation and hacking. The game is to be released for PC, PlayStation 3 and XBox 360, but does not yet have a release date.
The post-apocalyptic "The Last of Us" is another forthcoming title to fuel the hype machine. Gameplay footage revealed by Sony shows "The Last of Us" to be a grim, even brutal, story of survival in which a man and young girl fight their way through what remains of an urban environment. Naughty Dog, the same development house behind the PlayStation 3's popular "Uncharted" franchise is making "The Last of Us."
Sony and developers Quantic Dream have also announced a new game called "Beyond: Two Souls," featuring voice work from actress Ellen Page and a story dealing with the afterlife.
The bloody horror game "Zombi U," also from Ubisoft, is another new property Nintendo's forthcoming
