Title: Lagging body part (question for serious trainers)
Post by: mesmorph78 on June 06, 2012, 01:33:51 PM
Do you find it more beneficial to train a lagging body part once or twic a week?
I know they say DOMS dont mean muscle growth.... but I disagree even if it doesnt mean growth directly for me it means the muscle tissue has been taken out of its comfort zone and broken down. Do you guys get DOMS when a muscle is hit 2 times a week?

from experience, lacking bodyparts can only be brought up by increasing the dosage.

In case you inject locally, yes.

Workout wise, train them first

Bringing up a lagging body = realm of fantasy if you've trained it hard before.

I guess it all depends on how you train, particularly schedule-wise. My arms have lagged behind my chest and legs, so I put a second session for arms into my schedule. I've kept the rest periods the same. I've definitely noticed significant improvements in my arms in that time. I think most of us are genetically predispositioned to having certain body parts respond extremely well to less work, while other body parts need more stimulation.

no, thats not what i meant.

no site injections.

i meant increased overall dosage.

That would improve your overall mass, but also your balance?

yeah, somehow it helps for balance, i have no clue how and why, but thats what works for me.

All I know is that GH has a good effect on roundness on the delts (never did GH myself).
In case you know how to get more inner pec thickness, other than by Synthol, please let me know ;)

thanks for the response... whats your split

Basically a workout every other day, around an hour total with everything. 5 minute warm-up, bodypart or bodyparts, followed by abs and cardio.

   1. Biceps, Triceps
   2. Quads, Butt, Inner/Outer Thighs
   3. Back, Forearms
   4. Shoulders, Traps
   5. Biceps, Triceps
   6. Chest
   7. Hamstrings, Calves

Again, that's designed to focus on my particular lagging bodyparts in relation to my more responsive bodyparts. I want to keep everything in balance. Honestly, I'm still trying to find the right mix for my chest, as it's VERY responsive to training, but I find it difficult psychologically to cut back too much...

Also, approaching 40 this year and working out well over 20 years (always natural), I find I function best and get the best muscle building results with the extra rest such a split affords me.

I train every other day, so it's only up to four times a week.

Just answering the question and making no claims. Goodness knows what would work for someone else... Thanks for the misguided snark, though, it's appreciated.

"inner/outer thighs"

That's "code" for the abduction/adduction machine. Laugh all you want, but I train everything. My wife is my training partner, so you can laugh at that too.

oh, roundeness on delts, some test will do the job for most.

So what you're saying is, you haven't trained calves and now because the rest of you has grown, they stick out even more.  ;D

Depends on how much juice you are on, increasing the frequency to training a bodypart is pointless if you are a natural. With enough hormones you can train a bodypart every 2-3 days and bring it up.

I would say to switch up your training split that way your lagging body parts come first at the beginning of the week.

In your case it`s hard to tell, maybe trial and error would be the only way to find out what works best for you
