Title: Low-carb diet burns the most calories in small study
Post by: arce1988 on June 27, 2012, 03:24:23 PM
http://www.usatoday.com/news/health/story/2012-06-27/calories-low-carb-weight-loss/55843134/1?csp=hf

A new study is raising questions about the age-old belief that a calorie is a calorie.

The research finds that dieters who were trying to maintain their weight loss burned significantly more calories eating a low-carb diet than they did eating a low-fat diet. But some experts say these findings are very preliminary. The study, funded by the National Institutes of Health, was designed to see if changing the type of diet people consumed helped with weight maintenance because dieters often regain lost weight. So scientists had 21 obese participants, ages 18 to 40, lose 10% to 15% of their initial body weight (about 30 pounds). After their weight had stabilized, each participant followed one of three different diets for four weeks. Participants were fed food that was prepared for them by diet experts. The dieters were admitted to the hospital four times for medical and metabolic testing.

Do you honestly believe this shit? Especially coming from a bb'er, lol'd.

Try eating a caloric deficit, don't' stuff your face 5-7x/day, and fucking exercise.

a 1500-2000cal diet comprised of either A) relatively balanced macro's or B) keto like macro's, both would yield similar results given all other factors are constant.

matter of fact, the balanced diet would keep you fuller, saner, with more energy in the gym.

Seriously, fuck keto.

Not to sound stupid or ignorant here, but by eating balanced what do you mean? Sensible protein, carb, fat intake?

Yes, the following is a rough guideline

60%carbs/30%protein/10%fat

Cycling carbs is much easier to do, and you still can get to enjoy them in higher amounts staggered with lower amounts.

Thank me later!

Fat and protein are essential, carbs not so much. BTW low carb =/= keto

Hate to break it to you, but I get a much better pump in the gym with a shake a peanut butter before workout than if I do protein+carbs.  Also, keeping my carbs lower and fat higher I think clearer.  Energy....meh....never noticed any more of an increase in the energy in the gym with more carbs in my diet.
