Ruling helps Romney haul in $3 million in one day
Conservatives upset by the Supreme Court's decision to uphold most of the 2010 health care law are furiously cutting checks to Mitt Romney's campaign.
Less than 12 hours after the high court's ruling, the GOP nominee's spokeswoman Andrea Saul tweeted that the campaign had received more than $3 million in donations in the wake of the decision.
"Thank you to everyone who donated at http://www.mittromney.com today! Raised $3.2 million online & counting! #FullRepeal," she posted on her Twitter account shortly after 9 p.m., her sixth tweet of the day documenting the Romney team's mounting haul.
Just a few hours after the decision was announced, RedState's Erick Erickson tweeted that he had just donated to Mr. Romney's campaign.
"Swore I wouldn't do it, but I just gave Mitt Romney a donation. Thanks John Roberts. Sigh," he tweeted.
Right after the ruling Thursday morning, Mr. Romney sent a letter to supporters, asking for donations and reiterating his pledge to repeal the law on the first day of his presidency.
"It was always a liberal pipe dream that a 2,700-page, multi-trillion-dollar federal government takeover of our health care system actually could address the very serious problems we face with health care," he wrote. "With Obamacare fully installed, government will reach fully half of the economy — that is the recipe for a struggling economy and declining prosperity."
Earlier in the day before the ruling, the Obama campaign was bracing for a Supreme Court loss. In a letter to donors, Obama campaign manager Jim Messina asked supporters to "have Barack Obama's back" today.
"If you're with him, donate now — before this week's critical fundraising deadline," Mr. Messina said.
An Obama campaign spokeswoman said they do not give out specifics about fundraising except at filing time.

many of us predicted he would use this to make $ in the short term.
sadly, however, most of us know that repubs aren't going to repeal this thing in piecemeal.
No way house repubs push thru a bill called "Children are NOT automatically covered" and "people with pre-existing conditions do not deserve coverage no matter what". The mandate part's ship has sailed thanks to SCOTUS, and the only things left to delete at actually the good parts of obamacare (yes, there are some... companies being able to reject a kid with cancer is sickening).
So at this point, we can let the 8 year olds hope Romney will repeal it, but those of us with hair on our chest who can read a book without pictures are realizing after the July 9 "last stand" vote (essentially a bid for donations and getting re-elected in the fall).... obamacare is probably here now. Individual mandate isn't leaving, and no way repubs go after the good parts of it.

I think John Roberts had a medical episode which made him legitimiately scared. He realized what it feels like to be in a hospital thinking "is this it?"
This makes a man softer and more liberal, to be honest. You realize that life, health, and love is what matters. You go from being a successful capitalist conservative (which got Roberts the job) into a grandfatherly type who cares about all of God's creatures.
I'm being completely serious. I think he knew he was the deciding vote, and believed he would be a little activist, so that just maybe fewer people who be scared and alone and refused coverage to get preventable things fixed early.
He got sick, he got soft, and became a grandfatherly liberal. Period. Do you agree?

One line of thinking says he cracked under the pressure of having his court being labeled as a far-right court, especially with the libs in DC and the media, blubbering about Citizens United.
Just days ago, Chris "Thrill-Up-MY-Leg" Matthews claims he (along with Alito, Thomas, Scalia, and Kennedy) would have upheld segregation laws.

ObamaCare is a tax. Therefore, if the GOP wins the White House and Senate and keeps the House, they can repeal ObamaCare.

Romney Pulls in $4.2 Million Since Obamacare Decision

Mitt Romney's presidential campaign has garnered $4.2 million since the Supreme Court upheld the healthcare reform law Thursday, Romney spokeswoman Andrea Saul reports.
That represents an almost 100 percent increase from what the campaign had hauled in by early Thursday afternoon.
"Fundraising update for #FullRepeal: 42k+ donations, $4.2 million raised online for @MittRomney since #scotus decision," Saul wrote on Twitter at 3:23 a.m. Friday.
Romney has pledged to repeal Obamacare quickly if he is elected.
"Today, the Supreme Court upheld Obamacare,” Romney wrote in a fundraising e-mail to supporters Thursday, The Hill reports. “But regardless of what the court said about the constitutionality of the law, Obamacare is bad medicine, it is bad policy, and when I’m president, the bad news of Obamacare will be over."
The court upheld the law’s mandate for individuals to buy health insurance or face a penalty by classifying the mandate as a tax. That will give Romney an opening to attack Obama for raising taxes.

We know this isn't the reality, but romney can use that money to win the election and prevent any more silly legislation by Obama.
