He is successful in his own right.  Owns a Computer Store, has a real estate company, had success as a photo-journalist owned a coffee shop and was head of the Chamber of Commerce in Springfield, Missouri where both he and Brad are from.

There is so much win in that advertisement, I love this type of humor, even the dog doesn't come back to him, even when he gets home and he is wiping his feet off :D
