Just got done watching this movie, anyone else rent or see it? Gives a real great view of just how insane it was there at the end in Europe. Also, when Goebbles and Hitler give there farewell speeches for Frau Junge to take down, there may have been some forshadowing in there. All in all great flick. BTW, you better know how to read or speak German to understand it.

Awesome movie. Everyone should see it.

wow..what a coincidence!!!..I just watched it last night with my daughter who, like me, loves Nazi movies...I really consider "Downfall" to be probably the best Nazi flick depicting Hitler ever!!!

Bringen Sie mir Fegelein!
FEGELEIN!
FEGELEIN!
FEGELEIN!

That guy played Hitler so well in Downfall that the real Hitler video clips seem lacking now.
The movie where they interview Frau Junge about the last days of the Third Reich is excellent also.
-
the desperation shown in that film was suffocating.....depictin g what it was like to be in that bunker and have the Russians swooping down on them.....and Hitler deranged and thinking his non-existent army could save him..plus the fact that the entire leadership around Hitler was paralyzed due to their over-dependence on him was truly amazing
-
Hitler was a real muscle schmoe as well...

Why would you need to "read or speak German" to understand it? Foreign movies are subtitled in the U.S.
I am no WWII buff, but the movie was gripping and an excellent depiction of Hitler's last days.

You know, if you weren't black, this would look like a post from a starry-eyed Skinhead...

You are all correct,...this is a splendid film,...I have a special feeling in my heart for German language cinema.
If you liked this film you will almost certainly like the british film with Alec Guiness, "Hitler, the Last Ten Days".
You will also like Luchino Visconti's, "The Damned" a fictionalization of the Krupp (yes the coffee makers) and the Junker families.
The Krupps/Junkers made most of the german war implements.
-
The guy in the black top hat is Kurt Gerron...he was killed in an extermination camp.

No shit, read, as in read the subtitles. Maybe I should've used a ; or spelled it out better for you.
Andre, also to show how desperate they were, which wasn't shown on film, was the fact that Roosevelt died, and they heard the news, they thought that would somehow turn the tide. I will agree, it is a very vivid portrayal of what I have read, and I couldn't imagine the last few days o the Third Reich in Berlin.

Uhh...the subtitles are in "english", Einstein. As stated previously, why would you need to read or speak German?
As usual you prove, once again...you're a fuckin' idiot. ::)

You either have to know how to read(as in the English subtitles) or speak the German language, which is the films spoken language. Don't know how to spell it out any better for you mang, but I hope this helps.
-
To be honest, the english subs for der untergang suck
I speak rudimentary german and what you see in the subs is often different to what the actors are saying.

Just accept that your first post was a mistake and move on, dummy.
Geez you're soft-headed...I feel like I am communicating with Lenny from "Of Mice & Men." :-\

;D..okay..I can see that...but Nazi movies with Hitler are so good because you see the crazy psychology of the people around him who worshipped this guy even as he led to their downfall and became more and more crazy.....
-
Derek Anthony deserved an Oscar for his part
That is quite possibly the best vid ever on Getbig. You don't come back from shit like that. That Will Grant one was funny as hell too.

agreed.....I often wonder what I would have done in a similar situation....but I guess those guys with Hitler at the end were the die-hards......the other guys had already fled to Argentina, etc I guess.....I would have probably beat it out of Germany once the Russians closed in on Berlin..the Russians were bent on destroying Germany....I read the Russians were raping every woman they could get their hands on.....
Also imagine the gloom in that Bunker....and the mood of the officers who knew it was the end and they were probably going to have to kill themselves.....also Speers and his wife were some fucked-up parents to murder their children like that
-

Try again.

Try again.
agreed...
"Speers"? ??? Try Goebbels.
-
Just saw this movie called "Titanic." It was really an epic film, I'm thinking Oscar material here. Thoughts guys?
It was okay, maybe 3/10 by GetBig standards. The boat was kind of small for GBers, the chick was kind of fugly and porky, and the dude should have been 245 lbs ripped and swam to shore pulling the lifeboats behind him.
;D
-
Derek Anthony deserved an Oscar for his part
lmfao
-
Was forced to watch the movie.
Well done, but those Nazi flicks are too cheesy for me - exploitation of this theme has reached epic proportions.
-
Just saw this movie called "Titanic." It was really an epic film and the special effects were unreal. I'm thinking Oscar material here. Thoughts guys?
The UFA production?
"Kolberg" is amazing...Also the UFA "Baron Munchausen" with Hans Albers interesting...especially within the context of the period of history when they were produced.
-
agreed...
"Speers"? ??? Try Goebbels.
I made a mistake...shoot me
