WASHINGTON -- Mitt Romney has been determined to resist releasing his tax returns at least since his bid for Massachusetts governor in 2002 and has been confident that he will never be forced to do so, several current and former Bain executives tell The Huffington Post. Had he thought otherwise, say the sources based on their longtime understanding of Romney, he never would have gone forward with his run for president.
Bain executives say they've been instructed to keep company and Romney-specific information completely confidential, tightening the lockdown on an already closed company.
But pressure has been building on the presumptive GOP nominee. On Tuesday, the conservative National Review added its voice to a chorus of Republicans pushing him to disclose his returns from the years before 2010.
The Obama campaign has been hammering Romney for the past few weeks over his time at Bain, which Romney claims ended in February 1999, but which documents and his own testimony show lasted much longer. The ultimate prize for the Obama campaign would be a trove of Romney's tax returns.

Holy crap, i didn't know the National Review was also calling for him to release them.
I tell ya - and tell me i'm wrong if you disagree - that shit will leak before the election. I'm sure of it. SOMEONE will get a million dollar payoff, someone xeroxed a copy years ago. it'll come out. No way it doesn't.
If it comes out early, and its horrible, then the convention goes sideways and Jeb/Rubio are giftwrapped a ticket.
BUT if it comes out in October, ROmney will lose.

BIG DEAL!! You're more concerned about what Romney does with his money than what Obama and his crew have been doing with our (taxpayer) money.
And, you have the gall to complain about people not talking about the economy. ::)

I'm not concerned with what he does with his money. He's an awesome businessman, very successful. brilliant.
I'm all about politics - and politically, Romney is stepping in shit every day here.
Please don't confuse me with a bedwetter crapping on a police car, complaining about Romney's income - it's the LIES that I dislike.

You tolerated and were basically mush-mouthed about Obama lied for over three years.
Romney's not stepping in anything. Obama and his minions are throwing BS everywhere, to keep the subject OFF the one thing about which you claim to care.
Bain Capital has ZILCH to do with Obama's abysmal record, namely the at-least 8% unemployment for 42 straight months (and at least 9% unemployment for 33 months).
-
So 2 wrongs make a right?
You're comparing what a private company/entity does with private money with Obama's bungling with taxpayer money and the disastrous results?
Obama didn't keep unemployment under 8%. He didn't cut the deficit in half. And, his healthcare debacle is the biggest tax hike in history...ON EVERYONE.
-
the wrong was Romeny lying about 'zero affiliation' with bain.
He shouldn't lie to people. Obama is already not getting my vote, a liar going back to birth cert.
but now romney tells an obvious lie to us? not cool.
-
most likely theory = romney was about to use 2008 capital losses to pay no taxes in 2009.
nothing wrong with that, nothing illegal.
BUT today the Romney campaign said that is NOT the case - he did pay some taxes that year. Clears that up.
Strategists like Catherine Crier now talking about the possibility ROmney might really withdraw before the convention. In 2009, a lot of millionaires used that amnesty program to essentially say "I didn't declare taxes during this window when I didn't have to..."
WIll call into quesiton that his biz acumen is right to drive the US of A.

Man, this issue is REALLY crushing Romney. It's crushing him so badly he just took the lead over Obama in the latest "The Hill" poll.
I really can't help but laugh at the retards on here who want to talk about everything but the economy when it's clear that the average American could not care less about anything but the economy.

LOL!
Almost as funny as 333 thinking Obama would drop out or be kicked out at the convention
No way Romney is quitting but his problem will be that the media will not let him talk about anything else, especially given the number of prominent Republican who have gone on the record saying he should release more of his tax returns, and that is going to be a problem for him

Correct because the media is in full kneepad mode to avoid the horrendous Obama record beyond words.

Hypocrisy: Reid, Pelosi, Wasserman Schultz Refuse to Release Tax Returns
by Tony Lee 18 Jul 2012, 2:23 PM PDT 17 post a comment House minority leader Nancy Pelosi (D-CA), Senate majority leader Harry Reid (D-NV) and Rep. Debbie Wasserman Schultz (D-FL), the chairwoman of the Democratic National Committee (DNC), have been some of the most vocal voices that have called on Mitt Romney to release his tax returns.
In stunning examples of hypocrisy, though, Pelosi, Reid, and Wasserman-Schultz all refused to release their tax returns when asked by McClatchy Newspapers.
“The leader has filed a complete financial disclosure report as required by law that includes financial holdings, transactions and other personal information,” Pelosi spokesman Nadeam Elshami told McClatchy.
At a news conference, Wasserman Shultz said, “I file full financial disclosure required under the law” and refused to release her tax returns.
Reid also would not let McClatchy look at his tax returns.
In recent weeks, Pelosi has said Romney’s failure to release his tax returns makes him unfit to even be a Cabinet member while Reid said it made Romney unfit to be even a dogcatcher.
Wasserman Schultz said Romney’s refusal to release his returns was an example of Romney’s “penchant for secrecy.”
But, as McClatchy reports, “all three refused repeated requests from McClatchy to release their own returns, requests that started before the flap over Romney’s records.”

Do it. Romney is not a threat to our survival. Obama is.
Romney designed socialized medicine for millions of people, but only after depriving them of their guns.
So these issues aren't threats to our survival?
