How much does a professional bodybuilder spend monthly on:
Food
Drugs
Rent (including utilities)
Health insurance
Trainer fees
Nutritionist/steroid guru fees
Once we have a total number for monthly expenses based off of these 6 variables, how does that translate into yearly amount of money spent?
Also, how much does the average IFBB pro make yearly? By average, I mean anyone that is not in the top 10 of the Olympia, as clearly these are the top 10 guys amidst hundreds of competing/current IFBB pros.
After we find the difference between what these average pros make yearly and their yearly expenditures, can we possibly ascertain whether or not it is truly worth it?

guess depends on what kind of sugar daddy and how many sugar daddies they have

What I've found is that with the current economy, even members of the gay-4-pay network are not willing to give up their hard earned cash on a bunch of 2nd and 3rd tier pros.

I think you are confused. Don't you mean "members of the schmoe network"? The G4P gays are the 2nd and 3rd tier pros. :(

Lol when ever a thread is opened about g4p or the gay bodybuilding lifestyle bay is become fucking seabiscuit ;D

You will never find out the real answer.

No. I mean the actual gay-4-pay sponsor network. The 2nd and 3rd tier pros are the ones that are always available for services, but the actual wealthy sponsors are not willing to give their hard earned money for these guys that are baked.

Melvin,
I can possibly see the food figure being correct, but the drug value is off. I know that just on gh alone, these guys run high monthly numbers. I think the monthly figure on drug expenditure has to be way higher.
Also, a lot of these guys use trainers and I know some of these trainers charge a crap load of money sometimes while training them from another state.

I only spend 50 bucks a month in groceries because I clip coupons and email manufacturers for deals. Its just that a lot bodybuilders have to go out to eat every evening like Ronnie Coleman

Well, I'm basically starting out from the amount an IFBB pro fitness competitor uses and working my way up. Its a staggered amount with the amounts being higher during their 12 week prep and much lower in the off season

I would love to debate with you the need to go out and eat in a restaurant every night - its just unrealistic, but most of these guys are too fucking stupid to hold a normal job so no point arguing.

I have a template form letter for emailing manufacturers....I basically tell them that I absolutely love their products and I would buy more of it if it was less expensive..... ;)
99% of the time, they will email back a non expiring coupon which I print and make about 30 or 40 copies of them on my printer so that I can keep using it. I use that most of the time because I can get the stuff I want and I can save them to my coupon folder. I don't clip too often unless I decide to get the Sunday Paper. I then use them at places that have double or triple coupon day.....sometimes I actually end up getting stuff for free

Why does it make me look bad and why should I care??? Its a great way to save a ton of money on food. Manufacturers are going to make a profit so why not use social engineering to get a discount

i once had a roommate who was an ifbb pro so one day he told me he did some extra things to get money, i asked what kinda things, yes blowing the dicks from the judges, i said dude wtf?, he said, i can do some extra things for you too bro.
i moved out the next to my cousins house, a mans gotta eat but hey thats just wrong
-
They get their protein free from sponsors. That covers their anabolic needs. Their homes are usually 3000 sq feet and pretty expensive.
But they make great money. Average pro salary is 200 to 300k. It's down, as the economy is down. But they're still doing fine.

food - they can half their food bill (maybe more) if you can get sponsored by a local butcher or supermarket perhaps.
drugs - a little dealing on the side or perks of hooking people up can reduce that total too.
rent - halved with their missus
who the fuck oays for a trainer these days
g4p is grossly over exaggerated , imo
-

you shared with a guy famous for his huge man breasts!!
too bad he accidentally slipped
there was so much life left in that big man

lets not forget the 10,000 8x10 glossy photos they use to self promote and hand over to chinese restaurants and laundry mats for cheap discounts so that they can hang over the cash register

240,
The AVERAGE pro does not make 200-300K.
I know this for a fact. Maybe one of the top 5 guys can claim to make that much, but even the guys from 6-10 at the olympia stage don't make that much.
Both Weider and MD contracts are worth low figures (50K at most for weider) and supplement companies aren't paying these guys 6-figures, unless you are Mr. Olympia or a top 5 Olympian.

P.S. I probably completely missed the sarcasm intended through your post, but just in case..

Whatever it is, it is not enough. Unless they have a business or a full time job. I guess it all depends on what you are willing to do for money.

Whatever it is, it is not worth it.
It is a sad person, man or woman, that sells themselves to others. Sadder still are those that pay for sex, any kind of "sex".
Bodybuilders of today are nothing close to what they were in the days prior to drugs. Even as late as the 80s, men still resembled men and women could be counted upon to not only retain their femininity, but to celebrate it.
This is one pathetic pasttime, hobby, business or whatever people choose to call it. I call it selling out.
The body can only take so much before it rejects even itself. Look at Coleman. An amublatory pile of dung and for what? Eight Sandows and the immortality afforded by same? He's no Oak and will not be remembered in a hundred years, much less a thousand or more.

I know your question was not directed at me, but all the same, I shall answer it.
Nope. No how, no way. My imagination does not run that way and never will.
As to angering such a trollop as this one, I seriously doubt anything short of denying this sexual simian his payment for services rendered would anger him. He is in a word, stupid.
Given what I know of you, I suspect your questional was quasi-rhetorical my friend. A mutual friend of our's once told me thus -
It is not that you, nor I, nor any of us find doing wrong somehow beneath us, but instead strive to rise above such things. To do what is right and in doing so set an example for not only others to follow but ourselves to remember.
All the best to you, sir.
-

I made a rolling estimate from off season to contest prep.....but I suppose the number could be much higher depending on the athlete

In the big picture here, what's tragically wrong with bodybuilding is that there is no money in it. Never has been. Perhaps someday that might change although I don't see it in the foreseeable future.
When you say the few top guys make in the 6 figures, just compare that to the top athletes in golf, tennis, baseball, basketball, etc. Those guys are making in the 7-8 figures, some even more. And for the near top pros I wouldn't guess they make that much. I suppose they eke out a living (with no G4P). And unfortunately it's all relatively short lived. By the time you're 40, the contracts most likely have dried up.
If someone goes into bodybuilding just to make money, I think it would be tough road. On the other hand, to me, there is no other feeling like training, watching your body change, and having a result that is breathtaking to look at. Not only to others, but to yourself.

do you have a guestimate what Oscar ArDONT took him for?
oscar got 50% of kai's arnold money x 2. I don't know what else kai paid to him. remember kai would fly, feed and house oscar weeks out when he travel to shows. there are videos of them in vegas for 2 weeks pre-show training. kai was out of his mind.

Based on his earnings, I would say close to 200k. Oscar was not only getting 50% of winnings but Kai was housing him, food, meals, hotels...etc. Oscar did do his job but he knew that he was getting more of the gravy train than he deserved and Kai wised up finally and hired Farah.

that's an understatement, vince. i'm guessing oscar was getting as much as the little asian dude gets to train Dr Dre, and we know bodybuilding money is bullshit when compared to that. i wonder how much he even saved during his time with oscar?

So you are a big internet marketing guru with lots of companies and yet you live in a trailer park and live off coupons and food stamps, why dont you just come clean and admit that you are a poor loser who has failed at every business that he has tried.
-
So you are a big internet marketing guru with lots of companies and yet you live in a trailer park and live off coupons and food stamps, why dont you just come clean and admit that you are a poor loser who has failed at every business that he has tried.
Don't live in a trailer park, never got or needed food stamps because of my budget slashing methods. I simply live frugal and smart and it has allowed me to live without having to depend paycheck to paycheck like most people or work 40 hours a week. That's a lesson I had to learn the hard way when I was laid off from Alltel in 2007....
My home is comfortable and I own property in other areas as well. As far as couponing is concerned, its pretty easy and only takes a few minutes.....if you save a little...over time it becomes a lot and you can invest it in other things. Why pay full price when you can negotiate a better deal on things for practically no effort at all. For example, I just got emailed a 1.50 off coupon on Tyson Foods and I can take it to the market and double that coupon allowing me to buy boneless skinless chicken breast for 1.20 cents a lb.
I welcome anyone to criticize me......its fine because when the shit hits the fan, you'll wish you clipped coupons just a bit. As such you should appreciate the fact that I'm not burdening taxpayers with getting handouts .. :)

I like the way many pros will film "a day in the life" in what must be rented shitty apartments or repo'd foreclosures. They're private about the nicer houses in which they live. understandable.
