Mistrial......
PITTSBURGH - The family of a young black man who says he was beaten by three white Pittsburgh police officers has released its first statement since a jury was unable to reach a verdict on his claim that the officers used excessive force.

Jordan Miles was a CAPA high school student when Pittsburgh police violently arrested him on a Homewood street. The officers say he's the one who assaulted and resisted them.

In a statement Thursday, the Jordan Miles family described the officers as "thugs" and said they were drunk on their own sense of power.
On Wednesday, the jury also could not reach a verdict on a claim that the officers falsely arrested Miles in 2010. It found the officers not guilty of malicious prosecution.
The Miles family said the verdict is "a bump on the road to justice" and his attorneys are preparing for a retrial.
A police spokeswoman did not immediately respond to a request for comment.

Damn, there is no reason to eff someone up that bad...you can't even justify it.

Power hungry cops, nothing new there... You give a human being the smallest sense of authority and he/she will be abusing it no matter what. I see this happen all the time. It takes a lot of integrety and dicipline to restrain yourself from going on a power trip. You should all see this movie based on a true story, and you see exactly what Im talking about.

Looks like an upstanding guy to me. I bet he's editor of the yearbook, probably on his way to an SAT prep class or perhaps on his way to discuss his application essay to an Ivy League school with his guidance counselor. Doubt he did one thing to provoke the 3 cops who attacked him. The good news is great people like this always rise above the hate and accomplish great things in life. I have no doubt this guy will be one of those people. That being said, damn, dude got f***** up. wow

Miles said he ran away and struggled with police only, but only because they didn't identify themselves as police and he feared being robbed.

All stereotypical racists getbig style posts aside......unless this guy was one bad mofo along the lines of Muhammed Ali or Bruce Lee,there is no way in Hell that this kind of force was needed to subdue one young kid with three grown men at the helm.

didnt read the article becasue i really dont care. but there are plenty of reasons to thump a dude that hard.
i doubt being black had anything to do with it. plenty of white people get their face elephantmanized by cops

I wouldn't. If I did though I'd run like Usain Bolt on Cell tech and make damn sure I wasn't caught. I certainly wouldn't fight them no matter what.
Fleeing from and resisting police is a recipe for getting beaten to shit in America.

So he was just casually walking down the street and three plain clothes cops jumped him without identifying themselves so he ran and when they caught him they beat him up?
Come on man, you're smarter than that. Granted there is a possibility that is the case, but you and I both know that chances are he ran for a reason. I know guys that have run just to see if they could get away, from a minor traffic violation, and ended up getting roughed up when they were caught.
As far as playing the game goes....it's about what you are doing, not what you've been caught doing. ;)

OK, just read some of the accounts of this story, here's my take....he was up to something, whatever it was nobody will ever know, the cops identified themselves, that's why he ran, they caught him, a scuffle ensued where he pulled his arms away with one handcuff on and kicked an officer and according to the doctors that testified he suffered only soft tissue swelling, no concussion and no broken bones. I'm more than willing to bet if he hadn't ran and just answered theor questions, this thread wouldn't be here. :)
