No, unless pre embargo. Now whether they'll chase you down for importing for personal use is a different matter.

Puroexpress
Cubanlouse

Ordered from both of these sites. Never any problems. & if customs stops your shipment they'll issue a full refund.

Thanks. But Im not going to do anything illegal, especially for a friend.
What is the best legal cigar in your opinion for someone that like bolivars? Or should I just get him something else if I'm not going to get him the "real" thing?

It's legit. ATF is not going knocking down doors for cigar smokers.

Bolivars are a bit milder.

There are Dominican versions of Bolivars.

Not legal to import anything Cuban.  If customs catches you they simply keep the cigars and then send you a letter telling you tsk. tsk.  Some places may reship but yes it is illegal.

You need to learn a bit about cigars.  Just because they are cuban doesn't mean they are great.  Even the great brands have some that are shit.  So you need to know the brand and the size you want to order.  These days, Cuban cigars are getting priced way too high.

You can find some great domestic cigars that are on par with some of the great cubans.  The Ashton VSG is a fucking fantastic cigar.  The Alec Bradley's are okay.  The Padron's are great as well.

How much are you looking to spend?

did i just say this?  $200 will get you what you need from a canada seller.  they'll do their best to get it to you, but if customs catches it, oh well, you can just go to canada and have a smoke.   don't worry people do it all the time.  i'm telling you this from a cuban experience within my family.  ::)

No you didn't say this.  Also Canada's prices are a little out there.  Cuban Lous is okay.  The best prices are from the warehouses in Geneva.  Even with the Euro currency.  The best cigards can be gotten from Hong Kong.
HTexan, let me know what you want to spend and I will point you into the right direction.

Want a really good cigar legal in the States for a great price.
Try the Garcia and Garcia My Father cigar with the Maduro wrapper. For the price I found it comparable to the Opus X which is way way higher priced. Seriously, check this cigar out. It is excellent. And the band is ultra high quality too, one of the best Ive seen. Overall in my eyes the best cigar in that price range

That's like asking "what is the best mid sized car out there?"

If someone likes a particular cigar, very few substitutes will work.

Order the real thing from a legit cuban cigar site like puroexpress...etc
It's not a big deal.

BTW, guys that smoke "only cubans" are tools. There are plenty of better, cheaper and more readily available cigars out there.
I smoke 2-3 cigars a day and everyone always asks me "is that a cuban?" ...makes me want to go batman on someone!

Good post.  I remember the Ashton as a threatening looking thing which was surprisingly mild, although I never got around to having another.  Also greatly enjoyed the Padrons I've had, which were consistently good.

Had a run of disappointing Cubans awhile ago which got me looking elsewhere.  H-Tex, no one smokes just one brand, and if he does it's time to broaden his tastes.  You'll be doing him a favor.  I like Bolivars too but they're not the final word or anything.  Get ahold of some Padrons for the guy.

Gospel right there.

Seems so ridiculous to me in this day ad age that an American can't just walk into his local tobacconists and buy  a Cuban or three if that's what they want.

I discovered a mouldy El Rey Del Mundo in my humidor a couple of weeks back. I didn't even know i had it in there. Money gone to waste there.

Uh oh.  Maybe too wet?  You best sniff around carefully since those spores are now on everything.  I'd probably get through the ones in there and not add any more to the box until you're feeling confident.

The 'lil evaporators that came with my el-cheapo humidor sprouted mold before very long.   I just use a sponge in a plastic bag now.  The box recovered though.  Maybe cedar is resistant, which is why it was so popular as a house siding.

The Padron 1964 is one of my favorites as is the La Aroma de Cuba "EE" and the Ramon Allones "SS"......

But for the price it is not worth it.  You can buy great cohibas for 1/2 the price.  Just a matter of the year.

As for cigars that sprout some of that white dusty mould.  Just get a clean dry towel and wipe it off.
