This was from his 1999 USA win, his best shape and conditioning EVER.
I got the vid back in 2000, thought he would break out and take off where Flex left, since he is almost a carbon copy---it never happened.
-
never quite saw the similarity in him and flex....
flex looked miles better... both have a small waist but thats it...
he looked amazing there though.. just too short....
great build though

Small waist, same type of chest, lat shape and flare, similar muscle bellies, except Flex was rounder, problem areas of lower back, glutes and hams. Very similar shape, even when hitting the same poses.
I started doing bicep/tricep supersets after viewing this vid.
If you watch the vid you'll see the late great Gregory Hines, who was a bbing afictionado (so is Halle Berry), and his son.
You'll also notice that Melvin has a split or double peak on one of biceps, just like Ronnie does on his, but it's not as pronounced as Ronnies.

Bi and tri supersets are great ... I always hit the visually weaker first though because the bodypart doing the second part of the superset suffers i think.... chest is a weak point for melvin i think btw

I agree on all counts...
Also, you'll see Craig Titus spotting Melvin---this was before they got into a fight.

Yeah, I had it on VHS as well, threw it out, along with Shawn Ray's Final Countdown, Kevin's M3, Ronnie's The Unbelievable, and Flex's vids, all thrown out.
Why keep them if there is Youtube?

I'd keep the one with Madeline. Sometimes it's hard to find her old footage on youtube. :P

That's Mass Construction, have that on DVD...
Side note, you can see Flex's teeth were jacked up in that vid, and then he got braces, let me guess, it was the GH that did it...

Really?
Hell, man, I'd say you're probably stronger than Melvin at his peak (if that's it). He says he weighs 250 and got MAYBE one rep with 405 on flat bench, and even with a spot racked it after three.
In fairness, Mel did do incline DB press first, but even there ... 160s? That's very good weight but he struggled like hell. I don't know that he could've gotten three clean reps on his own.
I can't say I'm too impressed. If he was 205, that might be one thing. Shawn Ray and Dexter Jackson are dudes who are/were overlooked strength-wise. Shawn could incline 150s with no trouble at all, and Dex benched 405 for reps. People on here gave him crap ("Oh, Dex just shit himself benching 405!") but he did it for multiple clean reps if memory serves correctly. It's not Cormier/Levrone/Coleman or even Yates strong, but it ain't bad, especially for smaller guys.

What baffles me about these videos is why would anyone pay for one. Same shit every time...

You say that now, but this came out in 99/00 or 2001. This was showing Melvin getting ready for the 1999 USAs, which he was favored to win---he lost in a tie breaker to Dennis James in 1998.
And if you watched the vid, there is some historical content, as it has the late great Gregory Hines in it.

i mean there are things on that vid i couldnt do..... eg front squates with 405... but when i think of the drugs these guys take .... not that impressive... but remember he was weeks out from a show....too
