Vice President Joseph R. Biden told an audience that included several hundred black supporters Tuesday that Republican Mitt Romney’s efforts to loosen Wall Street regulations would put voters “back in chains.”
“Romney wants to, he said in the first 100 days, he’s gonna let the big banks again write their own rules, unchain Wall Street” Mr. Biden said of the presumptive GOP nominee at a campaign rally in Danville, Va. The vice president then lowered his voice and added, “They’re going to put y’all back in chains.”
Danville is roughly half black, and there were many black supporters in the audience of about 800 at the Institute for Advanced Learning and Research.
The Romney campaign reacted swiftly, accusing the Obama campaign of gutter politics.
“After weeks of slanderous and baseless accusations leveled against Governor Romney, the Obama campaign has reached a new low,” said Romney campaign spokeswoman Andrea Saul in a statement. “The comments made by the vice president of the United States are not acceptable in our political discourse and demonstrate yet again that the Obama campaign will say and do anything to win this election. President Obama should tell the American people whether he agrees with Joe Biden’s comments.”
Former George W. Bush press secretary Ari Fleischer tweeted: “The press pounded [Sarah] Palin when she talked about ‘blood libel’ … what will they do about Biden’s ‘chains’ remark.”
Mr. Romney, the former Massachusetts governor, opposes some of the financial reforms in the so-called Dodd-Frank legislation signed by Mr. Obama in 2010. Democrats said the law would curb risky investment practices and help to prevent another financial meltdown.
The vice president’s remarks came during a two-day campaign swing in Virginia and North Carolina, where he called Mr. Romney’s selection of Rep. Paul Ryan of Wisconsin as his running mate a move that will help clarify the race for voters. The Obama campaign is attacking Mr. Ryan’s budget plan, as well as his blueprint for reforming Medicare.
“This is a good thing, a good thing for the country that we have this stark, stark choice,” Mr. Biden said.
Obama deputy campaign manager Stephanie Cutter said on MSNBC that the campaign has “no problem” with Mr. Biden’s comments.
“I think he [the president] probably agrees with Joe Biden’s sentiments,” Ms. Cutter said. “He’s using a metaphor to talk about what’s going to happen.”
She said the Romney campaign was engaging in “faux outrage.”
“If you want to talk about the use of words, then take a look at Mitt Romney’s stump speech where he basically calls the president un-American,” Ms. Cutter said. “The bottom line is that we have no problem with those comments” from Mr. Biden.

Mitt Romney and Paul Ryan support Wall Street and the Bankers that recklessly conducted business and caused the Great Recession we face today.
President Obama has worked to reform Wall Street in order to protect Main Street.
Lets not stray from the path of a sustainable future and revert back to the ways of George W. Bush!

It's time to take the power from Wall Street and put it back where it belongs on Main Street!
The working class are the backbone of this great country and
we should not revert back to the George W. Bush policies
that propelled the ultra wealthy to become even wealthier and the working class to stagnate.

Coming to a mosque near you.
Neither dems nor reps have an ounce of interest in restoring anything - I hope you get paid for spreading propaganda.

Biden also asked the voters in Danville, VA to help the Obama/Biden juggernaut win NC. He stated yesterday that he was "sure Paul Ryan likes his dad". Paul Ryan's dad died when he was 15.
And people thought Dan Quayle was stupid?

I shall post what I posted regarding this topic on a different thread:
This wasn`t addressed to blacks specifically, even if it was, I don`t see a problem with it at all.
Yes it was - since when does Biden say "Y'All" ? ? ? ? ? ?
And you don't have a problem w this? LOL. Fomenting a race war is ok ?
He was in Danville, VA (I love going there) and that is common speak for the locale. Romney does it too, although sounds a bit more retarded when doing so.
I don`t have a problem with this because it does not foment anything. By acting like its an issue, it becomes one. Nobody there thought it was an issue and in the south, this type of speak is perfectly fine. The North are the only ones to find this kind of stuff "offensive".
Agreed - but will we see bidens comments in the MSM for weeks on end? Yes or no?
Why would you want to? Don`t you already know what he said? What purpose would it serve to keep repeating it, especially when its not offensive at all? The only purpose I see would be to try to make a story out of nothing and manufacture some sort of conflict.

Danville VA, is right on the borderline of NC and is actually contained in NC as well.
Danville is an independent city in Virginia, United States, bounded by Pittsylvania County, Virginia and Caswell County, North Carolina. It was the last capital of the Confederate States of America.
-
I have always referred to it as Danville, NC myself.

Right next to....buuuuuuut...not in NC. Biden's an embarrassment. If he's not putting his foot in his mouth re geography he has his thumb (and maybe something else) up his ass when he forces Obama to make a public stand on gay marriage. When they were running against McCain they could afford a little dead weight. When you're running against better qualified candidates and running with a horrendous record of completre and utter failure...Biden could be the anchor that pulls you under.

Danville
Danville may appear to be an unassuming town today but the ornate (and elaborate) facades of 47 stately mansions here hint at its big-bucks past. Located just over the state line from North Carolina, Danville was in an earlier age a manufacturing hub (particularly cotton) and important tobacco auction center, also of note as the first city in the country to activate its own power plant. Stimulated by flourishing industry (and the successof tobacco), affluent entrepeneurs flocked to town and constructed the elaborate homes which now are the focus of Millionares' Row, a stretch of historic buildings listed on the National Register of Historic Places.
A good place to start your tour is on a walk along this prestigious section of Main Street, stopping to explore area history and art at the Danville Museum of Fine Arts and History (housed in one of the aforementioned mansions). An 1899 railroad passenger station is home to Danville Science Center, a satellite of Richmond's science museum, and the former tobacco warehouses nearby have been retooled to suit the needs of modern residents, filled now with shops and restaurants not tobacco bails. Also of interest to history buffs is the American Armored Foundation Tank Museum, which calls its own the largest private collection of armored combat vehicles and weapons.
Danville's history is even seen at Virginia International Raceway where an 1830s plantation home serves as clubhouse. Motorcycle races and historic sports car events are scheduled year-round, though the real crowds flock to Martinsville, a short drive west, where the shortest NEXTEL cup circuit track is located (Martinsville Speedway).
Located on both sides of the Dan River, outdoor activities include walking along Riverfront Trail, golfing and horseback riding. Dan Daniel Memorial Park is home to the Danville Braves, farm club of the Atlanta Braves.
Danville is located 82 miles northwest of Raleigh, NC and 160 miles southwest of Richmond, VA on Highway 58.

Danville is located partially in NC, in Caswell County so its also contained within NC and next to VA.

Anyone who doesn't want real regulations of anything is just living in fear of being found out as a scammer of some sort. All one has to do is look at the scammers who own companies in the supplement industry. Every single one of them are against regulations. And every single one of them are scammers.

Nobody gives a fuck what you call it...nobody gives a fuck what some guy was thinking about in 1728....it's 2012 and Danville is in VA, not NC. :)
Biden wants to return to his post as VP of the USA. Shouldn't the man who's a heartbeat away from the nation's highest office know where he is? People like you who want to massage reality to hide his inability to grasp the simple geography a 4th grader could handle are only enabling him.....

I don't think the average person realizes what goes on in this type of travel... The guy was wherever he was EARLY that morning... got on a plane... maybe slept a couple of hours of crappy sleep... landed in the Raleigh Durham Airport (RDU) then was driven out to Durham... gave a speech, then was driven an hour and 1/2 away to Danville... Then gave another speech.
You call it stupidity, but come on... The guy was sleep deprived... He was driven and told hey... you're going to be here... That's what happens... sometimes you say you're in one state, when you're LITERALLY 10 seconds across the border in another.
I think the people who bag on someone about these things have never travelled farther than around the corner for their work.
I travel non stop and I can assure you that 1/2 the time when I have a layover, or am driven somewhere, I mistake where I'm at too... especially if I'm tired as hell and been busy working.
-

Romney slams Obama in tough new speech
The Hill ^ | AUGUST 14, 2012 | Emily Goodin and Justin Sink
Posted on August 14, 2012 9:20:31 PM EDT by RobinMasters
Mitt Romney used a tough new campaign speech to personally blast the Obama campaign on Tuesday, saying comments earlier in the day from Vice President Biden are "what an angry and desperate Presidency looks like."
"Mr. President, take your campaign of division and anger and hate back to Chicago," Romney said while campaigning in Ohio.
Romney was responding to Biden's suggestion that the GOP ticket's economic policies would “put y’all back in chains."
The vice president made the remark while campaigning in Virginia, during a discussion of Wall Street regulation.
"They’ve said it. Every Republican’s voted for it. Look at what they value and look at their budget and what they’re proposing. Romney wants to let the — he said in the first 100 days, he’s going to let the big banks once again write their own rules — unchain Wall Street," Biden said. "They’re going to put y’all back in chains. He’s said he’s going to do nothing about stopping the practice of outsourcing."
Romney repeatedly and harshly criticized Team Obama for the remarks.
"His campaign and his surrogates have made wild and reckless accusations that disgrace the office of the Presidency. Another outrageous charge came a few hours ago in Virginia. And the White House sinks a little bit lower," Romney said.

Giuliani Wonders Whether Biden Has ‘Mental Capacity’ for Presidency
By Robert Costa
August 14, 2012 6:59 P.M. Comments124
Former New York mayor Rudy Giuliani told CNBC’s Larry Kudlow tonight that Vice President Biden may be unfit for office. Here’s the transcript:
KUDLOW: You know, what did he say? ‘Y’all going to be put back in chains’? That almost has racial overtones, Rudy Giuliani. What’s your take on that?
GIULIANI: Well, I think if it came from somebody serious maybe we’d get all excited about it. But the — I think the vice president of the United States has become a laugh line on late night television. I mean, he — I’ve never seen a vice president that has made as many mistakes, said as many stupid things. I mean, there’s a real fear if, God forbid, he ever had to be entrusted with the presidency, whether he really has the mental capacity to handle it. I mean, this guy just isn’t bright. He’s never been bright. He isn’t bright. And people think, ‘Well, he just talks a little too much.’ Actually he’s not very smart.
