ex2 is mostly getting good reviews. Basically if you want to go to the movies for fun and see lots of action, blood and gore then the film delivers.
Not for the kings speech type people where nothing happens and you don't go to enjoy yourself.

I agree.

Since when did going to the movies become so boring?

I remember a time when you would go to the movies to laugh, get startled, jump from scene to scene,  while sitting on the edge of your seat, to then go home to further talk about how amazing of a movie it was due to it's cinematographics.

Now, all critics expect it to be a deeply layered presentation that provides you with a mental hard-on to last for a few days due to some overly cerebral set of characters that would make for better mimes than actors.

If you want to feel like a kid hoping on a great rollercoaster for the first time, then go see expendables 2.

I go to see such movies for social reasons only, for example if my work-mates have arranged something and that cute little blond from the accounts department is also coming, I spend most of the time in the cinema trying to think up some good lines for later at the pub ;D

Who the fuck would go to this movie and expect academy award wining performances, plus a great screenplay?

Movie critics that expect that from everything.
Sometimes I think many of them would be happy if everything went back to black and white with no visual effects, that way they could focus on the actors they so desperately want to be assfucked by.

I think this sort of movie should be banned from the critics, they go in to tear it apart from the start, pointless.
Most of the academy award winning performances are overrated boring movies anyway like the remake of true grit which was nominated for many. That was one of the most boring overhyped pieces of crap I've ever seen, literally nothing happens the whole duration.

The cast and the producers of X2 could care less of these so called "critics".

It will rake in the money and Expendables 3 will be even more outrageous, with Clint Westwood, Nicholas Coppola and Harrison Solo!

this is such bullshit, movies today are just as populistic as ever.

Aside from art films, and a few sean penn movies, no one gives a dam about winning oscars.

I agreee.  I go to movies to be entertained.  To forget about the real world and be caught up in the reel world.

There was a film made a long time ago about a film director that was upset about making comedies that made people laugh and forget their cares and made money.  He went out into the real world to meet the little people he wants to reach with his artsy fartsy BS to show them "the way".  The film is called "Sullivan's Travels".  It's good.

Just saw it.  I'm one of the biggest Stallone fans around, but I'm sorry, aside from a few select scenes, it was very bland.  Could have been far better.  Chuck was good in his few scenes and the final fight between Stallone and Van Damme was decent too.

I watched it this evening. It's John Rambo levels of gore and violence, plenty of heads go missing.

It's like the first on in that it's exactly what you want it to be. JCVD makes a good bad guy, if they still made Bond films like they used to (i.e. entertaining and enjoyable rather than the daniel craig shite), he'd be a good Bond villain.
Arnie really does show his age alot though, less screentime for him wouldn't have been a bad thing. But if you're a Schwarzenegger guy i don't think you'll mind.

Pretty sure Statham has stated "I will never win an oscar" and I am pretty sure he is perfectly fine with that. Neither did Arnold and people would be fools to say his acting career was a flop. Making awesome FUN movies won't win you an oscar but it sure as hell will win you fans.

ACH, if they blow stuff up without turning around to see the damage, I don't want to go and see it.

That walk-a-way scene has been shot too damn many times and I just wish for once that they would get blown off their ass while they casually walk away while the destruction occurs in the background.

Not real proud of it but I speak from  experience and no one who ever blew up anything is able to casually walk away without watching the damage that they have caused.
