The Atlantic League probably has no drug testing, so he should be in the clear.

Dude was an animal.  With the right amount of gear/gh, and your training, he'll be back.  As long as there is someone to sign him.

Haha, you're so right - it just wouldn't be a legit comeback without a bit of this:

I do a throwing program with my son almost every other day along with another client and his catching coach. And I can tell you by the time we're done with the program my fucking elbow is on FIRE, I mean, anti-inflammatories, ice and bio-freeze until the next session. Clemons is only 11 days older than me...not comparing clemons to myself in any stretch of the imagination but at 50 recovery is a bitch even on gear.

he was never able to hit worth shit, so he will have to play in the American league , which narrows his chances to half the MLB teams,  at his age he cant be a starting pitcher on the rotation not enough rest, doesn't have enough on his fastball to be a closer ,

maybe a one inning relief pitchers at best , but not many relief pitchers wanted if your not a lefty

if he wants to stay in the game , he needs to coach / manage , but with his roid scandal he doesnt have a pete rose chance at that

I don't think any team I'm the MLB would be stupid enough to pick Jim up no.matter how he performs.

Because he'll never play in the big league again so why take the attention away from the guys who are trying to make it to the show? Clemens is a sociopath who needs attention. The guy should just join a softball league and call it a day.

The Astros are a pitifully poor team.  I wouldn't be surprised to see Roger pitch a game for them in September as a publicity stunt to draw in a few fans.

Looks like Roger may be smarter then I thought. He's looking to get signed in the Major's so he can set the clock back 5 years until he's eligible for the Hall of Fame. Right now he is eligible next year and he for sure won't get in because of all the steroid BS. But in 5 years, the steroid era talk will loosen up and the Hall of Fame most likely will be more acceptable in bringing these types of players in. Pretty fucking smart imop. All he has to do is get signed and then fake an injury and retire.

An MLB pitcher can get away with 87 if their command is perfect, and they have a good offspeed pitch.

Bingo. (About pushing back his hall of fame eligibility.  Clemens wants to be a first ballot hall of famer and it probably ain't gonna happen if his name's on the ballot next year.)

If Oritz hits 30 to 40 HR's over the next few years, he will have a really good chance as going in as a DH. He's at 401 right now. 500 HR's will look pretty damn good. He also will have lifetime 525 slugging and over .900 OPS with a 375 OBP. Those are crazy lifetime numbers.

500 Hrs is not a lock, specifically because of guys like Ortiz.  DH will not help him either.  But, the Boston media machine was capable of diluting the Hall by forcing in Rice, so anything can happen.

The baseball IQ overall has become higher so other numbers will start to leak in when looking at the HOF.

I agree.   But 6 or 7 elite batting years out of say, 14 isn't HoF to me.

His HoF prediction stats agree.

For over 10 years 75-86, Rice was one of the most feared hitters in the league. Numbers don't always tell the story of what was really going on at the time.

Why didn't he lead the league in intentional walks during that period?   How much poopl had to be cleaned off the mound when pitchers shit themselves in anticiaption of pitching to him?

Most feared was the meme they had to create since the numbers didn't back it up.

The Atlantic League isn't an official minor league (see their "about" section on their website).  For the most part, the league is full of has-beens and never-was's.  It's essentially an idependent league like the Northern League.  Therefore Clemens' presence won't "compromise" any official MLB records.

What's crazy to me is how Ozzie Smith is a hands-down first ballot HOF'er, yet Bill Dahlen can't get in posthumously. He was a better shortstop, at least when you normalize his statistical performance.

Not to take anything away from Smith. He was great.

Pitchers knew he was a free swinger. I think he only walked 60+ times once in a season.

Free swinging cost his team more runs and wins than if he's learned some plate control.

LOL! So true. Everyone forgets that key stat touting Rice as a HOF'er.

He had a couple of devastatingly good seasons. That's not HOF'er. You might as well vote in Albert Belle too.
