So I convinced the gym owner to order in some heavier dumbells
175 , 180 and 190's
he has placed to order, cannot wait for them to arrive so I can challenge myself

I suppose dumbell bench presses might be one by some here but for the greater part Dumbells of that size would be relegated to shrugs or maybe deadlifts. Who here can do a standing clean and press wotj something like these weights?
Even hard core druggies would have trouble doing so.
Good luck with them. Just to be able to lift them off the rack is impressive!

I suppose dumbell bench presses might be one by some here but for the greater part Dumbells of that size would be relegated to shrugs or maybe deadlifts. Who here can do a standing clean and press wotj something like these weights?
Even hard core druggies would have trouble doing so.
Good luck with them. Just to be able to lift them off the rack is impressive!
mes is all natural. just a few pieces of jerk chicken every other day or so.

Agreed, but if the handles on these dumbells were 2" thick?
That would be impressive and good for a Farmer's Walk around the perimeter of the gym or parking lot.

naw man i wont be using them for standing presses, those will be for chest pressing, 180 I can do.... 190 not sure... guess ill find out soon... one way or the other ;D

Most of the guys can't use heavy dumbbells because they are lazy...
I mean...they are struggling with 90s, 100s...flat/incline press...fuck that...I'm not a big boy, I'm not a powerlifter, I'm not using tons of drugs...still I can do 160s, 170s. 120s all day...

Most guys don't like dumbells because it's hard for their friend to do most of the weights for them like on bench when the spotter yanks the bar off them for 10 reps .. I prefer dumbells makes you bench better and hits cheat better than bench IMO

I bench pressed 100s when I was 17 and I was natural and SKINNY...
Then yes, I built up my strength from age 20 with drugs...but it took me 8 years...now I'm bench pressing 160s-170s drug free.

There is a gym in Ann Arbor, MI called "Arbor Fit" that has the worst dumbbells I've ever seen. The grip is so small that you can't fit your thumb (I like to use a thumb grip or a "power" grip- whatever you call it- all fingers and thumb on same side)- makes them almost impossible to grip. Small things like that can matter a lot. Thankfully, I don't work out there regularly- was just visiting family

if you remained natural dont think you were going to increase your lifts dramatically than what you were lifting when you were 17 ;D..

our set goes upto 90kg,,, the length of the fucker is ridiculous... ive seen one guy use it for tricep stretches, and one for rows,, buts thats it, waste of money imo

All one arm at a time: Bent over rows, Hi-pulls, cleans, side presses and shoulder presses/jerks. All power & mass builders. Usually the free arm is bracing it's self onto a near by support, some times not. Surprising news, for some, that the bench or inclines are not the only exercises one can do with heavy DB's.
One legged step-up's, Romanian squats or regular squats and SLDL's (both hands or one hand at a time...suggest trying the one hands version, for a little variety in the workout). One arm at a time can give some insurance of equal strength, muscle development and balance with each side of the body to the other. that goes for any upper body movement also.

this guy never uses more than 75 pounders and he weighs 300 lbs, i'm just saying. i used to use 140's now i scaled it back accordingly.
