More than a ton of marijuana was seized and seven people arrested when U.S. border agents backed by a Blackhawk helicopter intercepted a sailboat and another small vessel in the sea off California’s Santa Catalina Island, according to a report.
The Los Angeles Times said four Mexican citizens on a panga boat, which was carrying the drugs, were arrested along with three U.S. citizens on the sailboat.
A loaded shotgun, a .40-caliber pistol and night vision equipment also were found, the paper said.
“We are beginning to see this as a more common tactic: Smugglers attempting to move contraband from open hull panga boats to recreational vessels,” Keley Hill, director of Marine Operations for CBP in San Diego, said in a statement issued to the Times.
“The smugglers think that when the recreational vessel moves in to shore, it will blend in with legitimate boating traffic off of the Southern California coastline and make it much more difficult for us to detect illegal activity,” Hill added.

It's okay boys. For every batch caught about 10 make it through unharmed. While all the cops had their attention on this bust another 5 boats sailed through without any attention to them.

Ouyby, Nope! Not lately anyway! But many years ago while we were involved in a supplement convention in LV at Caesars. we were wiped out by a cloud of Maui Wowie and I decided to show everyone the shortcut to the casino across the street (the Flamingo) and ended up jumping over a 6 foot wall into one of the Strip front Caesars fountains.
Those were the days when wet shoes squeeked, so we all squeeked across the Strip and into the Flamingo in search of one of the craps tables and within a few minutes I was having such a good time that I was asked to leave and was personally escorted off the premesis.
In fact we were all thrown out, so we went elsewhere where we were more welcome
There's nothing like good Maui Wowie to make you feel at home no matter where the hell you find yourself, but I don't recommend it while playing Craps or Blackjack where you gotta think and not laugh too very much.
