Shawn is my favorite bodybuilder in terms of physiques. But in this years O he would get third place behind Kai and Phil. The generation of crappy physiques started in the year 2000 and lasted till now, however it is slowly coming back to the 90's with Phil, Kai, Dennis, Victor, Dexter, then the new guys like Beyeke, Rhodon, Cedric, Kucklo possibly, Pukalski, and a few others.

He looks great and he displays his physique with class. This physique would make a fine Mr. Olympia. Another bodybuilder that would be excellent was Bob Paris. I think Zane was one of the better Olympia winners with a physique that the general population would find more than acceptable.

Shawn should win against this weak field, but wouldn't. He would be the most complete bodybuilder on that stage. No weaknesses. No asymmetries. No out-of-proportion bodyparts like we see today on the stage.
Heath's arms and delts are too big to match his chest.
Branch's legs are too big to match his arms.
Kai's gut and legs are too big.
Plus, Ray would be as conditioned as Heath, without the proportion limitations. So he should win.
But he wouldn't. Because judging today doesn't reward sound proportion and symmetry on the Olympia stage. Just like Cormier should beat the above-three, but he wouldn't.

Criteria needs to be changed, it's obvious that it doesn't win contests, the question is why doesn't it.

Good list, but you named 6 guys as a culmination of over six decades, Shawn is up there even if it isn't the absolute pinnacle, its still an achievement.
Well there in lies the point, the drug use pushes the boundaries too much. Listen to what someone like Zane says on the subject.

Not quite , Shawn short legs/long torso , high calves . narrow clavicles not that special in the balance & proportion department , never was never will be , oh and he's 5'7" too

Shut up ND. You're such a bitch. You know Ray was a great and should have won the Olympia in 94. Your party line of "oh, the judges made the call" is shit and you know it. Ray should have won. I'm the biggest Yates fan, but even I know he lost.
Yates had a torn biceps, looked blurry and foggy, and won based on a front relaxed pose and a back and front lat spread and hype from 93.
Ray had a better front double biceps. A better side chest and side triceps. His legs were better developed. His arms and delts and chest were better developed. His proportions are far superior to Yates, and I don't care what judges say. And you can say "well you're not a judge" and I don't care. You arrange flowers and have no life and debated Hulkster and almost lost, and he's as dumb as a bucket of hair.
Ray was easily the champion in 94 and I hate Ray. But he should have won if the judging went by the scorecards. You're being pedestrian when you auger your points of contention the way you do. You bemoan the details whilst overlooking the net effect. Yates should have lost in 94. But easily reclaimed it in 95 and 96 when he crushed the field.
