Title: Post your lifts, NOT 1 rep max!
Post by: Carmello on November 19, 2005, 01:57:39 PM
I'm statring this thread to see what everyone's lifts are like. I think we'll learn alot about ourselves once we see the weights we use for given body parts and exercises. I'll set it off by stating my lifts on all given days of body parts.  I'll only list the weights I use to train with, and not 1 rep max, and I'd like you's to do the same. I feel like certain body parts are alot stronger than others, so it will be fun to see what others are like too. So post 1 or 2 different exercises and the weight and rep drill for each body part u train.

Chest: (1) Incline db presses; 90lbs db's x 7-8 reps. (2) BB bench press; 225lbs x 6 reps.

shoulders: (1) BB Military presses; 145lbs x 8reps. (2) db side laterals; 30lbs db's x 8-10reps.

Traps: (1) BB behind back shrugs; 205lbs x 10 reps. (2) db shrugs; 80lbs db's x 10 reps.

biceps: (1) BB curls; 80lbs x 6-8 reps. (2) standing alt. db curls; 40lbs db's x 8-10 reps.

triceps: (1) seated db french presses; 80lbs x 8-10 reps. (2)Skull crushers;80lbs cambered bar x 8-10 reps.

Back: (1) db rows; 90lbs x 8 reps. (2) deadlifts; 245lbs x 6 reps.

quads: (1) BB squats; 185lbs x 12 reps. (2) Leg presses; 310lbs x 12 reps.

Hammies: (1) lying leg curls; 110lbs x 10 reps.

calfs: (1) standing smith machine BB calf presses; 155lbs x 15reps.

That's it. If u got some time, this will be interesting to see. Do It!

well i usually just throw 315 on the bench and rep out maybe 15-20.
then i rack it up and change my grip and do 12-15 inside grip
next is the hard part is sitting up with that weight on my chest, which subsequently is how i work my abs. well after getting up i rep out on the shoulder press. my shoulders are bad so i usually stop at 8-12.
on my last rep i sit it on my back and squat till i can't anymore which about 30-40
then i do lunges all around the gym parading my badassdom to everyone telling them they can touch me if they so desired, i get many touches.
then i rack the weight.
so now unto back, i grab the weight and proceed to do bent rows, again around 20
then i stand straight up and curl it about 10x
finally i throw the weight to the ground making a big crash, so no one misses out on the show because this is when i strip to posing trunks and pose for about an hour.
you may ask why have posing trunks on all the time, this is just in case i have to do a session in the last minute.

i could do more if i juiced, but i am comfortable with being 225 and 2.5%bf, i know it's nothing special but what i can do
 ;D

hmmm, sounds like many of us here need to work on the strength movements more than the look-pretty movements.

I confess, i used to be as guilty as anyone of doing this, but i'm really making a point not to be a tool anymore and work on what's important.  To me, this is legs, hips, calves, and back.  Doing a lot of deads and squats, and i was doing cleans up until i threw out my shoulder cause i was overtraining.  Prior to this injury my numbers were as follows:

Bench: 245 x 4
Bent-Over Row: 225 x 8
Deads: 385 x 5
Squat: 305 x 5
Military Press: 135 x 4
BB Curl: 105 x 6
Skull Crushers: 105 x 6

Quite obviously i have/had a lot of things to bring up....you shoulda seen me BEFORE i started squatting like crazy....it was sad  :-\

Anyways if my bench only went up to 275 in my lifetime but i got my squats and deads up to 455 and 495, respectively, i'd be happy.  Oh, could use some delts too....thank god i'm still young, geeeeeeez.

Anyone close to my size, bigger or smaller, i can outlift. I think half of u mother fukerz are bullshiting, especially the newer guys. Whatever, so long as I know I'm real, fuk the posers!

I dont think most of us here are noobs. I think i read in another thread where u said u havent been lifting for too long. If thats the case, ure pretty strong, but otherwise u still arent there yet. seems like you should be deadlifting a lot more than that.

In June of next year will make 4 years I've been at it. Everytime I'm making good progress, I get sidetracked somehow. Never fails. I got really sick over the holiday weekend. I'm tryin to eat, but I have the "sick appetite." Oh well, looks like my lifts are gonna suffer big time when i'm feeling better, and training again.

this really depends on where you lift. when i trained at a bally's with a friend for a few months we were probably in the top 10% strength wise. people would stare when we did reps with 495 in the deadlift. the most i saw anyone bench there was 385 and i think his spotter did most of the work.

with my new gym i am in the middle, some powerlifters at my gym press, squat and dead around 600-700 pounds. there was a guy doing incline DB press with 140 pound DB's for reps!

Flat bench - 275 x 10-12
Incline bench - 245 x 10-12
Dips - 160 x 8
Seated DB press - 85 x 8-10
Smith squats - 4 plates aside for 12
DB rows - 110 x 10
Incline leg press - 900 x 10
Barbell curl - 120 x 8-10

Nothing special, but not too shabby for a natural methinks  :D

These are my exact lifts right now:

Bench Press - 275x11, 350x2, 375x1
Upright Rows - 175 for 6-8 reps
Weighted Dips - 125x3 @ 240 lb bodyweight
Hack Squat - 3 plates for 10-12 reps, 4 plates for 2-3 reps

Bent Over Rows - 225x10, 275x5, 320x1
DB Bench Press - 100x17, 110x11
DB Clean and Press - 75 lb dumbbells for 7 reps
Leg Press - 8 plates for 8-10 reps
your lifts vary alot.  a 375 bench and you can only use the 110lb dumbells?  that's strange.  also your legs are very weak.

Um, it says 11 reps with the 110 lb dumbbells, and that's after carrying them across the room and sitting down with the weight. I've done reps with 130 lb dumbbells before in the same fashion.

You obviously don't know very much if you think those lifts are inconsistent with a 375 bench. I bet you're one of those guys who does half reps on the bench. ::)

Exactly.  That's quite a few reps w/ that weight.

Plus, I think it's very difficult to say "if you bench xxx on barbell, you should be able to do 'x' amt of reps w/ 'xxx lb.' dumbbells".

i saw that you use 110lbers for 11, when i was benching 275 as a max years back i used the 100's for 10, you must be very weak on the flat dumbell bench compared to your flat barbell bench.

110ers for 11=weak for someone who benches as much as 375.

true, true, everyone is different, "brian x" must just be very weak with dumbells.  not a very well rounded lifter to say the least!  extremely weak legs and dumbell strength as well especially comparatively.

um  bro....the people at your gym arent on this website..this website is for ( well  not for..but the only people on here are) people who are fanatics..or else they wouldnt spend time on a bodybuilding forum.

and your probably still young, like i am..so your 'weak" lifts( which arent weak for the average weekend warrior..so dont be so hard on yourself)aret very weak at all....   plus, one thng ive learned through lifting is that the older you are the stronger you are naturally....so you can be bigger than alot of these guys on here posting heavier wieghts on some lifts thatn you.....but because they are older and their muscles are more mature; they will have higher lifts than you.

that happens to me alot...ill see a 30 something douche bag walk in and ill be like:" what a small mother fucker..get out of the gym"...then hell go ahead and start benching three plates, just because hes oldeerr and more matured.

maybe im a dumbell phenom, when i was flat benching 225 by 10 i used the 100's on the incline for 8-10 reps.  now i bench 315 by 8 and use the 140's on the flat bench for 8-10.

Keg clean and presses for reps
Then I follow it up with 10 heavy schooner curls.
At the end of the night I follow it up with my ab workout which consists of heavy spiting and vomiting followed by a good nights sleep.

On bench: 135/32, 185/17, 225/11, 250/5, 275/3, 305/1
I don't usually rep w/ squats; on leg press I'll do 385/20+, 450/16+, then do 675 3-4 times real slow.
I haven't been lifting very long, but my goal is to be able to bench reps into the double digits with 275 in the coming year.

ok here goes... these are working sets so reps will range from 6-10, these poundages will be my heavy set after 12 warm up sets and usually after this heavy set i will do a slighly lighter set with a couple drop sets added for good measure......

1. biceps- barbell preachers 110

2. triceps-two handed dumbell overhead extensions 125lb for 3-4 sets, gym doesnt have a heavier dumbell, I could go a little higher, I go up to 4-5 plates each side on hammer dip machine

3. shoulders- 250-275 barbell overhead press on smith machine

4. Chest-barbell incline press on smith machine 275, i have long arms, I have never been a good bencher

5. back- curl grip pulldowns 250-275

6 leg press 9 plates each side, 10 if i feel great, 405 on smith machine squats<-- bad back I never go over 405, leg extensions on cybex 275

7. lying leg curls on cybex machine 190

8. calves- standing machine toe raises 300(whole stack)
