I've been to tons of bb shows in my day. Was just at one today. Sat in the front row just behind the judges. Why in gods name aren't they separated from one another? All they do is talk to each other and point things out to each other on particular physiques. This constant back and forth absolutely influences how judges vote.
Ex judge 1 to judge 2 pointing - yes pointing to a competitor. Holy cow look at the calves on that guy. Judge 2... oh yeah, (now thinking to himself) maybe I should place mr calf in front of who I had in front....
It's just plain stupid they sit there and talk to each other the whole show.
Judges should be separated
Oh yeah... I fell asleep a couple times too

Agreed 100%.
-
No no no. The decision makers in all sports are allowed and encouraged to "talk it over". NFL, NBA, NHL, etc. It's when the judges sit alone and think alone, things go "screwy"- boxing, MMA, cat juggling, etc.

So they can talk about who has the best looking ass and who they should do an orgy with later.

i want to see who's judging the big shows. i want too see names and pictures of each judge.
i'm sure you can dig up quite a bit about them being partisan, hanging out with certain competitors etc...

In some of your shadier, less prestigious contests it is not always the contestant with the top overall physique who wins The show but rather the one who gives the best pre contest blowjob.

I doubt this happens much, if ever

I think in bodybuilding local, national or pro at least 80% of contest are scored correctly and the best physique is chosen. 8 out of ten is not bad can`t really complain unless of course you yourself fall into the the 20% mark, but for a subjective sport 80% is fair enough in my books. Still can`t get over Kevin winning over Sami in New York though.

I been in and to many contests. The judges are friends , I been one myself. It's who they are know who wins BB isnt a sport its "who you know" more than anything else. I figured that out a long time ago. It is what is you want to try you will see if you don't have friends as judges you get fucked. I got lucky a few times won and didnt know the judges.

I disagree completely, I have stage marshalled over 30 shows and I am friends with all judges and am on stage with all the winners and 9 out of ten times the winners don`t even know one of the judges bro. In fact I have seen judges themselves compete and have landed second or third. I am not saying that some judges dončt favor there friend that are on stage but it is very rare.

I see both sides. I agree that judges mostly get it right. But too many times over the years you here about the newcomer who looks great but places low because they didn't pay their dues. But upon reflection this may have taken place more in the eighties n nineties when. Bodybuilding was thriving n those in power knew they could fuck w people's lives n the poor bastard would come back for more in hopes of stardom someday. Maybe I don't see that as much today since bb is dying n athletes will just quit n bb also may lose out on a star. Phil did good right off the bat n so did this new young kid that recently won was it the north Americans?
But then u see things like the Kevin English debauchle n know something strange went down.
But regardless, I still don't think these judges should be up there discussing their likes n dislikes of the people on stage.

Why would they be allowed to talk? Insane.
All it takes is that one judge is influental/more alpha and the rest will agree on anything he says
But maybe it is fixed already. Maybe they are extras just playing ;)

I judged AAU and the NPC for years and can tell you from experience that the judging is a lot more casual then you might imagine.
It isn't fixed and nobody meets in a back room to say who should win, etc.
At ANY time during the prejudging you makr down the guys place next to his number on the score sheet.
The points are the placements from each judge ( low score wins).
We pick the overall y watching some of the overall comaprisons and then write the number of the guy we think should win on a small sheel of paper. Then we all hand those down to the head judge who totals it all up and hands it up to the MC.
It really isn't any more complicated then that and NOT some well organized conspiracy with politics, etc.
A fixed show would require a well organized, secret plan and judging bodybuilding meets is anything but that!

I believe this happen at the highest Bodybuilding level contest!
Otherwaise how can you explain the victory of Cutler, Branch and Kevin English at the top 2 bodybuilding contest (Olympia and Arnold Classic)???

Well the reality is that the judges do not have to interact in order to get the same results, of course they interact some what but the judges are often swayed by previous decisions and often swayed by the fdans and sometimes come out with a horrible decision.
Take Branch for example despite the fact that getbig thinks he sucks. The reality is that getig only represents a few 1000 people meanwhile the mags are still read by millions believe it or not and if you walk through any supplements store on the planet, we are talking 1000's of them, you will see the image of Branch, youtube etc the publicity Branch generates is unreal and you know how the law of averages goes "the more people you talk to the more money you make" so here is the unfortunate plain truth; More people on this planet feel Branch should have won the Arnold, more people feel this way then every other competitor combined, so it's easy to be influenced by this.

Good Lord - I've heard about this .
-
Ive been to shows and competed in some where the judges are not even looking at the competitors.
-
The same judges have been judging these guys for years. They become so familiar with the physiques that they easily know when someone is a little off. A huge part of the judging is comparing the guys to their past appearances as much as they are comparing them to each other.

Believe it or not , being popular won't help you too much with the judges UNLESS that look lines up with the ideal pro physique standard. Let me explain how this can actually work, but keep in mind I never was an IFBB pro level judge.
Branch has incredible THICK muscularity which makes him popular with the fans. Being ultra ripped with thick mass is a big plus in modern pro bodybuilding.

??? Shouldnt be relevant. Best on the day
If you start comparing different times where do you draw the line? You could judge how they look year round and phil would never win... Best on the day

The paying your dues thing, is another common myth. It is caused by seeing pics of a new guy, standing by himself and looking awesome.
However, once he is standing with the rest of the top guys, he isn't quite as impressive as he is by himself.
Heath is a Mr O winner now, so he always stood out compared to the avg new pro.
We need to remember that the best guy is considered at least a few % better then the other pros.
So if they show up a bit off, they might still be a little bit better then the rest based on the judges criteria.
The sport of BB is so small it is going to have overlaps of judges knowing various bodybuilders for many years, etc.

I know losing a close one when some judges are familiar with the winner feels like a fix.
The guy just might be a little better and has been working hard in trying to move up in that districts contests.
In a really close class, it is only human to pick the local, hard working favorite as the winner.
I have never seen a guy lose that was the obvious , clear winner.
The guy that wins may have some strong pts, the loser ( and his pals) didn't notice.
99% of the time, the guy that loses a close call, fails to be objective about his own physique.
Once again, if you are the obvious winner , you will be the winner .
