Today, September 15th, marks the first official day of production on Metro-Goldwyn-Mayer Pictures' and Columbia Pictures' Robocop, and the first photos from the set offer a good look at Joel Kinnaman in the updated Robocop armor:

Any chance we will see Samuel L. Jackson in the role of the surly, smooth talking black guy? ???

Made in USA from 100% recycled Batman leftovers.

Love Robocop, can't wait to see it. So no Michael Fassbender?

Because one day...sooner than later, that shit's going to be the future.
Medical, Military, and Police are going to be the go to jobs that pay the most in the end. I said, "the most", not necassarily "alot", but the most the average joe can get. Either that or you can work at McDonald's or Walmart. Those will be the choices in the future if you want to live a decent life. Notice I said, "decent". Meaning not starve and just get your bills paid. Around 2020 promise you things will be that way.

colemanesque glutes
good eye, much like Lenda Murray also

if only those two made a few babies
can't believe joe weider didnt demand this
that would be freaky. probably the two most genetically gifted ever.

the old Robocop is more than 20yrs old and it still kick ass.....that new suit looks like it needs a couple more cycle of Deca/winstrol... :)
-
The new suit is keeping in line with the new look for males, which is toned and sleak, combined with the ultra futuristic look.
-
Straight to Video....
Once again no creativity in Hollywood. Can't wait for Wizard of Oz and Casablanca remakes...
-
looks like a rip off of Ironman's suit.

i'm really excited about this movie. i felt the original was too cheesy but had a good premise.
and i like the new suit--especially the visor. although i am afraid it will be too batman esque. :-\

Wizard of Oz is probably on the way already, on this wave of "sagas" we're experiencing. And it will probably star Ian McKellen, Daniel Radcliffe and Kristen Stewart ::)

Apparently, they are doing a Ghostbusters 4...
If anything, with the succes of Sherlock Holmes has shown, I'm surprised that Huck Finn hasn't been done, or a big budget Boxcar Children, or Mrs. Frisby and The Rats of NIHM.

A bit, yeah, but I sure as hell hope they make this another Robocop instead of a fucking reboot.
By that, I mean Ofc. Murphy WAS the first Robocop. The events of the first two movies happened (I never saw the third but hear it's terrible, so strike it from the list).
The plot should be that this new Robo is a more advanced version, built upon things they learned after working with Murphy for however many years before he retired to the junkyard. THAT would be acceptable, much in the same way "Predators" was a semi-remake of the original but was really more an homage and remained fresh enough to not shit on the original.

at least ghostbusters 3 seems to be a real sequel with the real cast. that is ok by me, ivan reitman has the right to do what he wants.
but the most blasphemous of all must be when i heard michael bay was going to rape my toirtoise heroes on the big screen. and that he was going to make them aliens :-X

I actually believe that the Ghostbusters cartoon (s) were better than the movies. They went more indepth with the origins of their nemesis, what their strengths were, and The Containment Unit as a some sort of realm.
I think that the cartoon had possibly set the tone for all other ghost/supernatural-hunter shows, due to their establishing a background of the creatures---having books on how to defeat them, a library---a scientific or methodical way of dealing with said entities.

yes the cartoon was great. but they came after the movie right?
i actually thought they messed with my image of egon spengler when he didn't have blond hair and that crazy hairstyle because i watched the cartoon first

Yeah, the cartoon came after the movie.
And it was more sinister and dark than the movie as well, especially the later cartoons.

I'm the opposite. The original was intentionally cheesey. If you were young when you watched, it was a cool movie. If you were older, but you get the joke. A remake is a horrible idea.

This, it was cheesy yet gritty and gory at the same time.. if was a great concept, very sarcastic yet very possible.
But that was Paul Verhoven's S.O.P, same with Starship Troopers and Total Recall. Verhoven was the man.
-
Instead of everything old is new again, it's everything classic is poorly remade. "Conan" remake sucked. "Total Recall" remake sucked. This will probably suck just as bad.
I live in fear of a "Casablanca" remake with Tom Cruise as Rick. What a joke that would be. In today's PC world it would be a floater of a film in need of being flushed.
-
I hope they bring back remakes of the old villains too.....how can you possibly top Clarence Boddicker or the acid guy though? The movie is still badass and I think it holds up remarkably well even up to this day.
"AwwwwwOhhhhhh...help meeeeeeeee"
"Bitches leave!" A REAL Getbigger...though a Getbigger would want a private posing session in lieu of the bitches.

If you google you can find out more about the story. Apparently it is supposed to be a better story and tries to get the viewer to ask what exactly does it mean to be human and other deeper stuff.

Exactly - you put that perfectly.
There's no reason to remake them, they won't be improved.

why in the world does robocop allow his face to be exposed? i mean, let's protect his chest with 3 inch stainless steel, but goodness knows bad guys would never go for the headshot...

This....the original was a film made with a singular director's vision, it was brutally violent, sarcastic and subversively witty. a classic
the new one will be the usual CG driven, sterile, plot-less nonsense you forget 6 seconds after you leave the theater
-
I'd buy that for a dollar!

You must be a teenager. Depending on what the material is made off "bigger armor" does not necessarily = stronger protection. And since it is "armor" there is no reason for it to be made to look muscular or "jacked." The bad guys are going to be shooting bullets at Robocop not engaging him in hand to hand combat so looking jacked is not going to intimidate anyone... except a teenager. ::)

Too aesthetic and slim here.
The old version was much more awe-inspiring and you could see the weight and power.
This suit is too slender, which would cause less respect from the hoodlums.
I'm certain this version is much more agile / martial artist / matrix-fightscene-inducing though

gayer then two guys holding hands. Jessus fucking christ I can already see the new TwinkieCop being a total failure. Watch what a small gaming studio from Montreal could come up with given a similar concept/
tl'dr a ex-cop gets ambushed and almost killed. He is saved when most of his body and internal organs gets replaced with machinery. You start the game when your character is fully "repaired" and you get to hunt-down the bitches who attacked you and killed your fiancee.

watching those clips I still cant believe Robocop was perceived as a kids movie. the parts where mr foreman was snorting coke from his personal bumper canister is just gold lol.

They should have make it into a movie, or at least do like Starship Troopers made it a series---have it on Showtime or HBO.

You can theoretically just go around with one battery, since that one regenerates on its own! lol Yeah but I had a good amount of candy bars with me.... But the bulk of my inventory was guns and ammo, I tried to carry as much of those with me as possible since I played pretty aggressively!
I'm playing the DLC "The Missing Link" now! Good stuff right there!

human part machine exoskeleton
Downtown Detroit setting
dystopian future
conspiracy theories for plot elements
corrupted government.
corrupted companies as villains
cops:Adam was a cop. Alex is a cop.
cyberpunk

life-saving surgeries preformed on hero
ethics of said surgery as plot elements
Robocop gets his pistol, Adam gets a basic pistol with all the upgrades
Adam's pilot friend dies. Robocop's partner dies in part 3.
Deus Ex deals with people having to take a drug called Neuropozyne. Robocop 2 deals with people on the streets taking a drug called Nuke.
hero starts systematically hunting down the people who killed him.
high tech villains

Thanks, Ghostbusters III (with the ghost holding up 3 fingers).
Don't get your hopes up. This project has gone back and forth with production confirmation at least a dozen times since 2008. Most of the time, it's due to Bill Murray being an asshole and tying up his share.

Downtown Detroit setting
dystopian future (So have a lot of movies)
conspiracy theories for plot elements (So have a lot of movies)
corrupted government. (So have a lot of movies)
corrupted companies as villains (Umbrella corporation :-) )
cops:Adam was a cop. Alex is a cop.(kind of a stretch)
cyberpunk (I would link Deus ex more to blade runner and not robocop)
lose of love ones (Like every single action movie)
life-saving surgeries preformed on hero (So robocop ripped off the six million dollar man?)
ethics of said surgery as plot elements
Robocop gets his pistol, Adam gets a basic pistol with all the upgrades (Every action movie in the world has a pistol In it)
Adam's pilot friend dies. Robocop's partner dies in part 3. (No you can save the pilot if you are a good player like me and she helps you out later)
Deus Ex deals with people having to take a drug called Neuropozyne. Robocop 2 deals with people on the streets taking a drug called Nuke. (Fair enough there)
hero starts systematically hunting down the people who killed him.
high tech villains (Like any science fiction movie)
Seriously though you bring up good points ;D
The most relevant one being they were both saved by surgery which gave them cybernetic powers. Sure Deus ex takes some elements from robocop, but its far fetched to say "its a complete rip off"

Here's a few more photos from the set of Robocop featuring Joel Kinnaman in full robotic gear and brandishing his signature weapon. There's also a great photo of Robocop sitting down and texting. I know it's just a shot inbetween takes, but it's still funny to see this high tech robot still texting like the rest of us. In the movie I'm sure he would have something like that already built in.
There's been a ton of complaints about Robocop's new costume, but I'm one of the few that thinks it looks pretty cool. I see more of an anime style influence than the Batman one everyone is talking about. I think it will look even better when we see it in action. Has anyone else warmed up to the costume? Or am I alone in thinking it's cool?

As he sits astride his shiny black motorbike, its hard to tell where Robocop ends and his vehicle begins.
Fans got a first glimpse at the fighting machine's revamped transport as Joel Kinnaman filmed scenes for the remake of the classic action movie on Saturday.
The epic Robocop remake has been filming in Toronto, Canada for the past month.

Power: Joel Kinnaman rides a futuristic motorbike on the set of Robocop remake in Toronto on Saturday
The 32-year-old actor looked fierce in his futuristic all black body armour while perched on the powerful machine.
In the full-body fighting suit Robocop became one of the most iconic heroes of the Eighties.
As the eagerly anticipated film progresses in Toronto, set pictures from the Toronto shoot have flooded the media including those of Kinnaman wearing the Robocop suit as he storms onto various crime scenes.
The first Robocop made more than $54m, spawned two sequels, a television miniseries and even gathered Oscar nominations.

Speed: The sporty motorbike complimented lead Joel Kinnaman's body armour
In the remake Kinnaman plays Alex Murphy, the hero police office who is critically injured in the line of duty.
His life is saved using the latest robot technologies, creating a futuristic Robocop who struggles to adjust.
Speaking to MTV Kinnaman said: 'The RoboCop reboot is going to be a lot more human,' adding, 'the original is one of my favorite movies. I love it.

Hazard: The all black futuristic police bike could pose problems for night riding
'Of course, [director Paul Verhoeven] has that very special tone, and the reboot is not going to have that tone. It’s a re-imagination of it.
In the film Michael Keaton is set to play the role of Raymond Sellars, CEO of the corporation that builds RoboCop in the MGM/Columbia Pictures’ RoboCop remake of the 1987 movie.
Keaton joins previously announced Joel Kinnaman, Gary Oldman, Samuel L Jackson and Abbie Cornish in the Jose Padilha-directed film.

That's because Judge Dredd is riding the bike with a manly posture while 2012-Robocrap looks like a twink :D
Too much aesthetics and limp-wristed swimmer-physique on the modern robo.
-
wtf is wrong with the original one?
not making enough money anymore for greedy movie moguls
-
Robocop looks like a f a g g o t now :'(
-
While original Robo had a powerlifter physique, this "modern" Robocrap is more of a Crossfitter.
Old Robo won't be allowed to enter Planet Fitness for example.
-
Sly's lifts are actually a lot higher than his
-
Robocop looks like is a flaming f a g g o t now :'(

Sony Pictures Push ROBOCOP Back To 2014; ELYSIUM Also Delayed
Well, this is sure to come as disappointing news to fans who were looking forward to seeing Jose Padhila's take on RoboCop next summer. Neil Blomkamp's Elysium (which was originally set to be released on March 1st, 2013) is now taking its August 9th, 2013 release date, pushing back Jose Padilha's remake to February 7th, 2014. There's currently no word on WHY Sony Pictures made this decision, although one option is that they may convert it to 3D. Another is that those rumours about problems with the production were in fact correct!

Would only see this Pacific Rim-movie if there were any Sons of Anarchy-actors in it.
That's the ONLY way they would make me want to see this kind of movie.

The Hell??? Is JAX in it?? Cool!
Well, one Sons of Anarchy-actor doesn't cut it, now if there were MORE SOA-actors involved, then i might consider watching this pile of sci-fi crap.

ROBOCOP Licensing Sizzle Reel Released Featuring Concept Art
Recently released online, this RoboCop licensing reel gives us the low-down on the overall tone and feel of the movie, while visual designers show off some of their concept artwork for a more silver-looking suit, the OmniCorp offices and RoboCop 1.0. The sizzle reel doesn't feature any actual footage from the movie, although it is still a must-see regardless.
