It creates a 'heel' which unless you consciously address by sitting back (which he did not) will make the bar want to travel in front of you. It also makes it harder which is silly.
I dare say I have a lot more experience and knowledge about lifting weights than you do so if you want to actually learn something you should ask questions and not be so negative.

What about olympic lifters that deadlift in shoes everytime they clean or snatch the weight? Seems to work alright for them.

They are more for the squat and not the deadlift. Also if you look closely they will also come up on their toes more than you would think - the shoes again must help

It really also depends on the heel height. And another thing about Olympic lifters is that a pull done for a Clean or Snatch may only be 50 - 75% of their best deadlift.
