Title: Gallup: One-Third Of Lowest Income Voters Support Romney
Post by: blacken700 on September 18, 2012, 01:58:05 PM
While Mitt Romney continues to suffer the fallout from a video that shows him dismissing President Barack Obama's voters, or 47 percent of Americans, as invididuals who do not pay income taxes and depend on government entitlements, new research from Gallup released Tuesday shows that the Republican nominee claims the support from more of those individuals than his remarks seem to suggest.

According to Gallup's polling from the tracking period of Aug. 27-Sept. 16, 34 percent of voters whose household incomes are less than $24,000 a year support Romney. Obama easily wins among those voters, earning the support of 58 percent.

As Gallup points out, a significant portion of the individuals who pay no income tax are the same voters in the lowest income bracket, roughly a third of whom intend to vote for Romney, not Obama.

And who is this going to anger? If a third of low-income people are voting for Romney, then obviously they don't fit into that "47%" who think they're victims and are entitled to stuff from the government.

If anything that should worry Obama and the lefties. Those are the people Obama is trying to attract with his "redistributing the wealth" garbage. If Romney gets that, coupled with enough working-class people (whites, in particular), he gets the win.

He's said that before (this leaked tape was from a May fundraiser). Conservatives have been saying that for YEARS!! This topic is hardly news, except for those on the left with their heads submerged in mud.

And who is this going to anger?

People who question his competence.  People who oppose class warfare.  Students, retirees and military vets who are currently part of the 47% that pay no taxes.

He just told almost half of the nation they don't matter.  They're motivated to vote now.

And republicans... who now seem to be distancing themselves.  There was a point in 1996 when republicans knew Dole would lose - they all distanced themselves from him.  We shall see if that happens now.  Scott Brown did it today.

He just told almost half of the nation they don't matter.  They're motivated to vote now.

PLEASE!!! Not a single person who gets offended by this was even remotely considering voting for Romney, and you know it.

They're going to vote for Obama, NO MATTER WHAT (assuming all of them actually vote, this time). That's the point Romney made.

Romney talked about self-reliance and not having a victim mentality. Even among the poor, those who have these characteristics Romney can reach. Those who don't will lock-step for Obama.

And republicans... who now seem to be distancing themselves.  There was a point in 1996 when republicans knew Dole would lose - they all distanced themselves from him.  We shall see if that happens now.  Scott Brown did it today.

BIG DEAL!!! This happens all the time, just as some Dems were "distancing themselves" from Obama, after his infamous "You didn't build that! Someone else made that happen! spiel.

So, at best, this is a wash.

Mitt Romney's comments at a private fundraiser are alarming a number of Republican strategists, some of whom are worried that the fallout could deal a body blow to the GOP nominee's already struggling campaign.

“It's a kidney shot because it reveals a very cynical view,” Mark McKinnon, who served as a top strategist to former President George W. Bush, told The Hill. “He's pushing independent voters out the door.”

McKinnon said the remarks were also a “sharp stick in the eye” to President Obama's base and would likely fire them up to turn out in bigger numbers this fall.

snip//

Several GOP political strategists were as harsh in their criticism of Romney as McKinnon, though they asked that their names be withheld to speak candidly about their party's nominee.

These strategists said the video reinforced perceptions that Romney was an uncaring, out-of-touch millionaire. They also worried the fallout would cost him a crucial week of messaging as he struggles to close a narrow gap in the polls with Obama.

"Couldn't come at a worse time," one Republican strategist told The Hill Monday night. "I hope the {Romney campaign communications} team in Boston doesn't have any sharp objects nearby."

i guess they didn't listen to rush today ;D

Let Obama's base show up. That's one less excuse we have to hear from the likes of you, if Obama loses. The lefties in Wisconsin thought their base, turning up in large numbers meant Walker was done. Well, they showed up in large numbers...BUT STILL GOT BEAT!!!

I guess you conveniently forgot about the Dems that flame Obama for his statement. But, that's par for the course. You'll keep posting this crap, swearing up and down that such spells curtains for Romney.

Yet, when that fails to be the case, as was all the other FOOLISHNESS, about which you kept slapping dozens of threads, you'll roll (like a good kneepadder) to the next flavor-of-the-week/month left-wing talking point.

Of course, you're dodging the other aspect, that Obama supposedly should have locked up his re-election with Bin Laden's demise.

A third of low-income voters supporting Romney is not surprising. About the same voted for Bush, according to a CNN exit poll after the 2004 election.

Romney didn't say anything about them. What he said was "All right -- there are 47 percent who are with him, who are dependent on government, who believe that, that they are victims, who believe that government has the responsibility to care for them. Who believe that they are entitled to health care, to food, to housing."

Those 33% who support Romney and the similar number who supported Bush DO NOT think that way. Therefore, Romney isn't referring to them.

hold on a minute you forgot the rest, the one that puts them in the 47%  :D :D :D

There are 47 percent of the people who will vote for the president no matter what. All right, there are 47 percent who are with him, who are dependent upon government, who believe that they are victims, who believe the government has a responsibility to care for them, who believe that they are entitled to health care, to food, to housing, to you-name-it. That that's an entitlement. And the government should give it to them. And they will vote for this president no matter what…These are people who pay no income tax.

Can you actually READ? If those people don't believe they're victims nor that the government is supposed to take care of them, nor are they entitled to (fill-in-the-blank), chances are they are NOT voting for Obama. So, Romney's not talking to those people.

And, as I stated earlier, this number of people about matches the number of low-income voters who supported Bush.

Are they the people who will vote for Obama, no matter what? Obviously NOT.

Are they people who feel like victims? NO!

Do they feel entitled to (fill-in-the-blank)? NO!

Romney qualified the people to whom he was referring with those statements. Contrary to what you and other lefties are trying to spew, it was NOT a blanket statement on low-income people.

Indeed, some of them did. But, others are backing Romney.

It happens, just as there are rifts on the Dems' side. We saw it, when Obama flipped on gay "marriage", and over Obama's "You didn't build that" comment.

Tied in Gallup, Obama up 2 in Rasmussen, nationally.

Similar leads are in the state-by-state polls (battleground, that is), according to Rasmussen.
