Charged for Urinating On Taliban Corpses

Two U.S. Marines have been charged in connection with a video TMZ posted, showing at least two American soldiers urinating on the corpses of deceased Taliban fighters.
According to the USMC, two Marines -- Staff Sergeants Joseph W. Chamblin and Edward W. Deptola -- will be charged for "violations of the Uniform Code of Military Justice" for their involvement in the urination incident.
The USMC says the incident is believed to have taken place during a counter-insurgency operation in Afghanistan on or about July 27th, 2011.

If it was not in the US best interests these two would not be being charged. US would not charge him if it was of no benefit to them.
So what's the benefit? Likely to try to reduce the # of attacks on their troops in Afghanistan which increase when there's anger among Afghans form hearing of incidents such as this. In other words, if more US troops shared the warped attitudes of you guys in this thread it would only put them further in danger.

I was not commenting on morality fuckstick, I was stating that if the pic hadn't gone public, nothing would have happened and no one would have cared.
Why the fuck should I respect what you believe? Respect is earned, not given. And so far I haven't seen much of anything in Islam (as it exists in the world today) for me to respect.

I have absolutely no problem with this - these soldiers will face a jury of their peers in accordance with the rules laid out in the UCMJ.
More generally, we should expect and demand that the members of our Armed Forces perform their duties honorably and while keeping in mind that they wear our country's flag on their arms and they represent our entire nation. When they commit violations of the UCMJ they dishonor themselves, all of us, and more importantly our Nation. And our Armed Forces and we as a nation should not tolerate this.
I know that some will say that the corpses "got what they had coming to them" but I don't buy that. How others treat our soldiers is, in my opinion, irrelevant and no excuse for this type of action; we should not applaud or encourage our soldiers if they stoop to the level of the enemy we're fighting to commit such acts. We have Armed Forces, with rules and regulations, not a gang of thugs.

Like most man-made laws, the church's position on "celibacy" was instituted to provide cover and acceptability for a situation that already existed.
