Bob and Dan Solomon is better than these guys. I thought Kamali was good too actually. I especially have a problem with this Norton fella. The heart of my criticism stems from these guys being overly biased towards Phil Heath, when in fact it is very close between the top 2. They're are misleading people to think Phil is the deserving winner no matter the outcome. This means Phil Heath bb.com-fan boys will be unbearable if Kai wins. Unprofessional!
It's really not good commentatorship to basically announce the winner during prejudging. "I'm sorry to spoil the show but Phil has already won"
And when it's such a close top 2, how can you say things like "Phil and Kai are above everyone, but Phil is just above Kai" ?
And "Phil is better than last year". When he clearly isn't!
And the instant classic by Norton: "I think the thongs are too large! Too much fabric. Can't see the glutes enough"
His mic should been cut off instantly after that one.

I only saw the coverage between kai and phil, and i was quite surprised, kai looked really good.. actually better than phil IMO, plus that hting he was doing with his lats looked awesome ;D

These guys will say anything. Truth is Phil doesn't look better then last year, his stomach is out and not as hard from the front this year, at least Solomon pointed it out.
Kai is insane, thick and wide, his legs are way bigger then Phil's, both have shredded Ham and glutes and are peeled from the back but Kai takes the back poses based on width and thigh thickness. Kai takes 3 of the quarter turns, Phil takes the front cause he looks great relaxed. Kai takes most muscular, side triceps and side chest. Fuck this contest isn't even close, Kai is murdering Phil.

That was an excellent observation about Even's posing trunk! Very odd! He looked he was wearing a diaper. I have never seen that before.

I turned the webcast off as soon as I heard that come out of Layne's mouth. The gayness factor went through the roof.

The worst thing about Layne other than his love of french cut posing trunks was his love of Ben Pakulski. He admitted earlier in the webcast that he sometimes trains with Ben, but Pakulski was deservedly back in the pack with his shallow back and long torso.

I really hope these guys will eat their words, and that it teaches them a lesson not to jump to conclusions.
They basically said Phil had won - before one single comparison had taken place! ;D Even before Heath went on stage in his thong they dismissed all other contestants as non-threats. And all this in pre-judging might I add.

Bodybuilding commentary is pathetic. These guys have no clue what they are talking about. All they do is toe the tabloid line. Why do they have to commentate like that? Is it really bad business to speak normally? The whole industry builds up the Olympia and Arnold winner as untouchable. Why?
Branch may have won the Arnold (and good luck to him for that) but geez, given his genetic structure, that is only a case of others losing it. Any sensible commentator can see that. Heath has a great physique but f**k, any halfwit can see that Kai, in shape, is a match for him. And so? What is wrong with that? Either one could legitimately win but the blabber mouths behind the mic would have you believe otherwise.
Bodybuilding is truly one "I-need-to-be-an-alpha-male-but-I'm-not-so-I-have-to-lick-ass-to-be-accepted" industry.

This seems accurate. The announcers presented thing as a done deal Friday. A guy barely started his presentation before they were commenting on how he "just didn't have it" and this is where he was already destined to place...and magically they did ::).
And how can you really judge accurate placings when they only compare the reigning champion against one guy? How about some real comparisons, less prancing around the audience, less 'shucking and jiving' on stage. If you're confident that Phil really has the best physique then line him up against every single challenger to prove it. It felt like they needed guys to be placed for 'marketing reasons' and avoided direct comparisons to give themselves an "out" (big time homo). Really? Branch placed higher than Dennis and Evan? Really? REALLY?
It should really only be a one night event. Bring your best physique on Saturday night, get judged, get paid and go home. It's rediculous for any of the guys outside the top 5 to even show up on the second night when they're not going to get a real chance to change their placings.

It's funny, the placings are decided weeks before and noone knows what condition the guys will show up in.
This is why when a guy who is placed out of the top 10 appears in great shape the commentators have to really make an effort to pick them apart on the night. Manipulation of the masses at it's finest.

I do. I think it's extremely disrespectful for all the athletes involved the way they were shrugging them off and literally tonguing Phil's japseye. The way they kept saying Kai didn't have this and didn't have that. They forget that he has beaten Phil, quite comfortably at the Arnold before now and is a massive, massive threat. If I hear one more word about "genetics" and "insertions", I'm going to spew.
