It's a good PR move, but ANY time a politician puts himself into a crisis, the real cost - feeding and housing his security detail and hordes of reporters while they hand out 12 cases of water - it is often an inefficient operation.
But it's a good move, sure, from a politics standpoint.

But Obama waddling around knee-deep in gulf oil spill... costs thousands in taxpayer $ and is nothing more than a PR effort.
This storm gonna be a pussycat anyway - it's nothing more than an economic boost "everyone buy water and batteries and gas/generators".... while knocking the embassy sotry off the headlines. Leave that to the weather channel - a bunch of idiot buying plywood is NOT a more important story!

he should use his pulpit to encourage people to donate to the Red Cross, etc.

Local police resources being re-routed from helping the needy in the snow - so that they can guard 12 streets the Romney tour bus will pass...

the amount of coordination/planning it will require - to what will be no more than a photo op - is kinda silly. And unnecessary.
He has positive momentum on his side - no need to pander here. A week before the election, pundits woudl love nothing more than a photo op of Romney Bus getting stuck in a snowy road and needing to divert resources that could be helping people - to helping him trying to capitalize on their distress.

nothing for obama in south florida either - on lawns, cars, etc. very minimal for romney - i've counted maybe 12 signs all year and 5 bumper stickers.
I did see some obama t-shirts on younger people in the club lately. People are still going to support him. FL will probably go romney, but given how many people I know who are dependent upon the govt teet, it's hard to imagine them picking the guy who plans on ending their handouts.

if you had to choose which man has had more consistent ideals over the years - it IS obama.
Granted, most of his ideals involve redistribution of wealth, greater govt control, less freedom, etc. Not good things.
So I think we can agree while obama has been consistently liberal his entire career, Romney was a liberal governor (gun bill, romneycare), but now promises to be less liberal.
We're choosing the promise of less liberal (from romney, who delivered it but promises to stop it) - over Obama, who we KNOW is going to proudly be continually liberal.
Obama wins on consistency, Romney wins on the fact he's promising not to be liberal anymore.
