Wow!
So he had a rally to collect food/supplies/money in disaster relief for the victims of Hurricane Sandy?

Not the food and supplies....but the campaign rally and Anti-Obama T-Shirts being handed out. This is definitely not the time for that shit. WTF was he thinking???

Even you wouldn't agree with this shit....this is your home....Would you want someone to have to get a campaign sticker or shirt just to get food and supplies???
This is just completely fucked up beyond all recognition. This is politics at its most evil

Red Cross guidelines include the following: "Unfortunately, due to logistical constraints the Red Cross does not accept or solicit individual donations or collections of items. Items such as collected food, used clothing and shoes must be sorted, cleaned, repackaged and transported which impedes the valuable resources of money, time, and personnel."
Either Romney didn't bother reading this (we all knew this based upon common sense), or he believes the video of him picking up canned goods in work gloves is just too good to pass up...
Red Cross doesn't want $5k worth of granola bars.

There were actually a bunch of very large tv screens with info from the red cross and the red cross telling the crowd to donate money.
Red cross guidelines and guidelines for other church/charity/relief/food banks are probably different.

no, fox was in that press and they've been very good at calling out obama for his BS.
Remember, the 'press' are private for-profit companies that cover any topic they deem profitable. It's a free market, capitalist thing. We'd never bitch about Ford only selling this style of car, or McD deciding to cancel the McRib sandwich.
The press has one obligation - the stockholders of each company. That's it. Playing the victim, whining about why the new won't cover this or that - they have no duty to do so. Romney has the $ to open his own news channel and point out obama mistakes 24/7 - it'd be a cool channel and nobody could complain about him not covering the news in the way they want.
Media = private companies that can offer any product they wish. Polar bears on trampolines or spring break bikini exposes aren't "newsworthy", but they trump war coverage all the time for ratings $$$. It's capitalism.

True.
Too bad Romney is no where as clueless as the idiot in chief.

jesus can this guy be any more of a phony
But the last-minute nature of the call for donations left some in the campaign concerned that they would end up with an empty truck. So the night before the event, campaign aides went to a local Wal-Mart and spent $5,000 on granola bars, canned food, and diapers to put on display while they waited for donations to come in, according to one staffer. (The campaign confirmed that it "did donate supplies to the relief effort," but would not specify how much it spent.)
As supporters lined up to greet the candidate, a young volunteer in a Romney/Ryan T-shirt stood near the tables, his hands cupped around his mouth, shouting, "You need a donation to get in line!"
Empty-handed supporters pled for entrance, with one woman asking, "What if we dropped off our donations up front?"
The volunteer gestured toward a pile of groceries conveniently stacked near the candidate. "Just grab something," he said.
Two teenage boys retrieved a jar of peanut butter each, and got in line. When it was their turn, they handed their "donations" to Romney. He took them, smiled, and offered an earnest "Thank you."
