Title: The Art of Falconism becoming incomprehensible to the machines
Post by: Marty Champions on November 01, 2012, 06:19:54 PM
this is the key culture has all the tools of a paradise  yet so much destruction

we are prodded to be machines, working hard as fuck day in and day out so the elite can take our tax money and grow stronger all the while some of us become more powerful as machines

i beleive alot of us have begun to realize our artistic abilities, moments of clarity, moments of staggering connections, but only if we embrace our own artforms unknown to cultural norms can we then become smarter and more useful and better yet incomprehensible to the "machines"

Father Falcon,

What is your opinion on recreational drug use?

In particular, what do you think about the use of:

Marijuana
Cocaine
Heroin
Ecstasy

i know i cant smoke weed anymore gives me a heart attack but im not against eating it although ive never eaten it. i think the smoking of it raises my blood pressure and heart rate too much and makes me feel like im about to meet my maker cause my heart goes over 120 bpm and takes a good hour to slow down. with that being said i got lots of mental benefits from weed and lots of motivation but the downside is my appetite would be ferocious

ecstasy seems so artificial i wouldnt even mess with it did it a few times really gay buzz feeling

heroin puts you to sleep, i snorted or smoked it cant remember really lame and gay makes you feel drunk not sure what the benefit is intended to be other than drunk sleepy feeling

cocaine is stupid probably only useful in emergency situations

ever done lsd johnny ?

if so ever mixed it with mdma ?

As for the OP, i think let them gather their riches, we cant do anything about it, we as normal citizens can just earn a crust and do what we enjoy. You gotta remember life it about having the right chemical balance in the brain, so whether you are super rich or whether you are well off , as long as you are happy than its the same

this is the key culture has all the tools of a paradise  yet so much destruction

Our genes contain the countervailing seeds of destruction for any paradise. It simply isn't reasonable to suppose apes can have genuine tranquility -- do the last 200k years provide any evidence for the claim that it is possible?

As far as future prospects for paradise, evolution will change our nature too slowly and the risk always exists that it will meander into a genetic cul-de-sac that isn't conducive to paradise. The only hope, then, is genetic manipulation. But that's another topic entirely.

You gotta remember life it about having the right chemical balance in the brain, so whether you are super rich or whether you are well off , as long as you are happy than its the same

One can imagine situations where a person's chemical balance is optimal, yet they seem to be missing out on key aspects of existing (e.g., if you are in a brain in a vat and your chemical balance is being manipulated by scientists) and, alternatively, situations where a person who is chemically unbalanced experiences more of life than a balanced person. Both cases imply there is much more to life than chemical balance.

A break from what, precisely?

This isn't a shtick: Philosophically minded people never stop analyzing such issues, even if they're on bodybuilding forums where most threads are BMC WYHI whale threads. The dude made a philosophical claim about the meaning of life and I responded accordingly. Some people do take the claim he made seriously, so I don't think it's trivially false.

some people think phil heath is straight, doesn't mean it isn't trivially false

You're right, just because some people take a claim seriously doesn't necessarily mean the claim isn't trivially false. But my reasoning isn't necessarily flawed either, since a logically proper inductive argument results depending on what we mean by 'people'.

In this instance, by 'people' I implicitly meant philosophers. When a large swathe of trivial falsehood detectors (I think it's fair to refer to philosophers as such) affirm the statement our friend here made (something along the lines of 'being happy is all that matters', since our pal seems to be using 'happiness' and 'chemical balance' interchangeably), then chances are it isn't a trivial falsehood. It may be false, but not trivially so.

this is the key culture has all the tools of a paradise  yet so much destruction

we are prodded to be machines, working hard as fuck day in and day out so the elite can take our tax money and grow stronger all the while some of us become more powerful as machines

i beleive alot of us have begun to realize our artistic abilities, moments of clarity, moments of staggering connections, but only if we embrace our own artforms unknown to cultural norms can we then become smarter and more useful and better yet incomprehensible to the "machines"

I think we are prodded this way from all directions to create the largest economy possible in order to funnel wealth into amazing achievements,

I think we are prodded this way from in a multitude of ways to create the largest economy possible in order to funnel wealth into amazing achievements,

like the Egyptians used to do back in the day with the pyramids, only this time we are kept more in the dark
