Friend of mine just showed me a thread that the fools at Ironage posted showing Sergio Oliva in his casket at his recent wake. Ii think Natural Mr.O, John Hansen posted it as he is the moron who took the picture too. I find it disrespectful that he even took the pic. Fucking fanboy. Pathetic and disrespectful to post it on the site. Over at Ironage they act all proper and shit, but they find it ok to post such a thing. Now here on Getbig, I would have expected such fare.
-
Last glimpse and goodbye?
-
OK Iron age is a forum for assholes(couple of good guys) but John Hansen is not a guy who would do it if he thought it was disrepectful. He loves himself...sure but respect he has as i remember he met Bill Pearl and wrote a great write up and photos. He showed respect to Bill Pearl.

I was expecting this pose

His left arm smaller than right, would not hit.

.
Seems like he lost serious size there. Drugs are just the finishing touch ???
-
what ? no link ? no pic ?
me = disappointed

Please, explain to me what is disrespectful about taking pictures of someones corpse? I do not care what is done with my corpse after I die. It may be left on the street to rot if that's someones will. I won't be alive to see it anyway.

Pic was posted in this thread, then disappeared. Apparently we have more class than ironage.

Ironage is the ONLY bodybuilding forum I ever got banned from.
I made a crack about a well known older guy who, like me, NOW looked he stopped useing the ab blaster he got for Christmas.
I thought it was funny and pretty tame and harmless. Seems that they had a virtual meeting over my post and a bit of a meltdown and voted me off the forum LOL. This was a few yrs back and I was allowed back on but lost interest .
I'll take some silly or rude crap so long as we get some funny stuff that entertains me and others.
The ironic thing is many of the ironage guys are pretty decent men, that know a lot about bodybuilding.
I respect many of them for their knowledge on Ironage.
I have met many of them in person over the yrs and enjoy the experience.
They do take the forum a tad serious and don't seem to have fun on the forum there.
John is a good guy and I have no idea about who/what the Sergio casket pic is about?
In my opinion, that would be in bad tatse , but who knows?
-
So.. was he at least in shape?

Did Dallas go into some off the wall rant with quotes from his mother, or some Steve Reeves worship talk ?? Odd ball..

Yes, Stark (a kind of shitbag similar to the ones at IRONAGE) posted a thread with Sergio's casket picture which was promptly deleted.
Just ban that German cocksucker already, he's not funny or creative in any way whatsoever, not interested in bodybuilding or working out, just an attention troll who will do anything to get some response. His threads almost always end up in the bottom of the pile since noone bothers to post in them, so he just stoops to new lows with every new thread. Posting a casket picture, WTF!
Ban the cunt.
are there things "Raymondo"?

The forum is pretty much a classic example of being over policed.

Great post and i do not think john would show disrespect to anyone.
John seems to be a really decent, ethical man from what I know of him.
The Ironage group was just too serious about bodybuilding for my tastes.
Smart, informed group but the board there didn't enjoy jokes, which I do.
They were trying to raise money to help restore the original GOLD's gym ( Venice Beach).
Some felt it should be listed on the California historic sites and preserved for future generations.
I know Ken Srague Sr pretty well and he was owner of the place when they filmed Pumping Iron there.
He sold the place in the late 70's and it became a resturant ( I think).
Ken cracked up and was in disbelief when he saw how a few on ironage wanted to turn that old building into a shrine LOL.
Some ironagers thought it might be good to tour the old gym sites from the original "iron age days " ( 60's, 70s').
Most of the gyms are long gone but they thought it would be fun to see the places anyway????
Smart guys who really know bodybuilding on IA but a tad too serious for me when it comes to bodybuilding.
-
The forum is pretty much a classic example of being over policed.
There is some excellent dialogue and classic era pics on that site.
They don't want to discuss drugs at all along with any g4p , that went on in the golden era.
the thing that bugged me is they tried to pretend it was an era that was near perfect, and it wasn't.
For me and many others who lived outside muscle beach, the 60s and 70s were not that great a bodybuilding era.
Gyms were few and far between, supplements sucked and the number of contests was small.
The 80's/early 90's was for me the ideal as this was before figure or fitness and a show was 100% bodybuilding.
Gyms were springing up everywhere and bodybuilding was covered on TV...go figure.
-
I remember Kens posts...great guy..and he shot straight from the hip...i liked him.
-
I wondered what happened to you there being a regular poster.
It's got much stricter in recent times, I guess they just want a different kind of forum without the banter and rude talk.

-
No there are some idiot guys over in IA but the good guys i have noticed of late are coming to us Brothers...they are good guys with know how and i mean in our History section Alan is there..another great guy. John has a lot to offer us as he writes great things as a bodybuilding athlete and a respected member of the Bodybuilding comunity...
-
so bed time for me Bros....thank fuck for the spelling thing when you post... ;D
-
They kicked me off IronAge too, mean bastards :D
-
Like Howard I enjoy joking around. They were posting photos of Robby Robinson and at the time he didn't want any of his images posted without his permission. I jokingly posted in one of their Robby threads that I was Robby's internet police and they should take the photos down or I would report them to Robby. Well a couple of them got all serious about it and acted like real asses so I said hell I will tell Robby. Well I guess Robby called Shawn Perrine at the Weider offices and left him a message informing Shawn that he wasn't very happy about it and called him a" BOY". That hurt Shawns feeling enough that he banned me for life from ironage, LOL

In a place like IA, it's a nice farewell pic. If it was posted here, it would probably get comments that it didn't deserve.

Take it easy on those guys. Sergio and the golden age athletes are imortalized forever there ( hell THE BEEF is a member) and they( we, view it as respect.)
May God bless Sergio and the Ironage.

Apparently people use to do this. My great grandmother left a album full of coffin photos, so I looked it up.

Yes, up until the easy availability of cameras, it was somewhat common for families to photograph at funerals. Many times folks would only a few or no photos of a person due to cost and set up, so sometimes a funeral was the only and last time to get them, It's faded for the most part here in America, but you'll still see it in certain parts of the world.
Here's a rather creepy collection of older ones -

very good point ..agree all the way

It's part of the culture of people in Europe east of Germany to take photographs of people in their caskets. I have relatives with numerous photo albums of dead people in their caskets.
-
It was sad to view that photo of Sergio. Sobering and sad. We are all mortals, afterall. Even the Myth.
Howard has reported a few misconceptions about Ironage. I say what is on my mind and haven't been banned. They do discuss steroids now but that was taboo a few years ago. The moderators were changed when Shawn Perine got too busy for the site. One moderator didn't approve of me and that was unpleasant. It is difficult when moderators join discussions. Always has been and always will be. The current two moderators on the general forum are doing a good job.
Ironage allows all manner of discussions but they don't want people attacked personally. They don't want that site to resemble the nonsense that occurs here on Getbig where nasty people post what they want.....usually behind anonymous handles.
Yes, you have to join to even view the site which is a pity. I don't think they have anything to hide. Just their policy. I always thought the Ironage was from 1940 but that isn't what the owners of that site think. They do remember and celebrate champions from the past and that is what the site is mainly about as far as I am concerned.
-
I don't see anything wrong with the photo of Sergio forever resting, if is posted on a site where he is Idolized........
There's a lot of fools that actually think Arnold is a God, that can be irritating after 5 mins on that site.

A pic from 2007..

Casket of peace.

Dave Mastorakis is a great guy.
Funniest IronAge post I ever read, was where Perine said he benched 405 raw as a 16 year old teen weighing 130 lbs..
Classic..

I prefer to see Sergio in his prime as the myth those freaky pictures that i saw as a kid that made me want to work out, why would you want to see pictures of him in his casket.

Again, You don't want to see a pic of anyone in a casket, or go to a funeral, or cemetery....hell you don't even want to die....but it happens lad.
-
You only die once......
But once is way TOO MUCH !..... don't you think ?

Yes... it would be great if we could live forever... but we all have an expiry date. I was watching this show on TV about an inmate facing the death penalty. He was a young kid, maybe 20 or so. Way too young to die... Even if we aren't dying now or in the next couple of years, we all will reach our expiry date and die. It's the reality of life as a human.

Aren't you the asshole who makes up fake gay stories about the pros? What's the problem: mommy didn't give you enough attention at home? F@ggot.
