Title: Poll: Public would blame GOP for budget impasse, wants tax increases
Post by: blacken700 on November 27, 2012, 11:30:33 AM
A strong CNN/OCR poll for the President and Democrats in Congress on the “fiscal cliff,” in terms of what the public wants out of the talks, and who they’d blame if the talks go south.

In a nutshell, the public wants tax increases as part of the bargain, by an overwhelming majority, and they would blame the Republicans more than the President should a deal not be struck.

The Public Wants Tax Increases as Part of the Bargain

But They do not want cuts to Social Security or Medicare.

Nope, they don't want tax increases.

Income tax rates. Only 13 percent of Americans said they favored raising income tax rates for all citizens. And the suggestion that those earning over $250,000 a year — the benchmark the president uses to describe the so-called “rich” — should be taxed more received the support of 47 percent of the electorate. With all the media spin, one would think that view would have enjoyed majority support. It didn’t.

When asked if “taxes should be raised to help cut the budget deficit,” only 33 percent of the voters agreed, with a strong majority of 63 percent saying no more taxes.

this

the solution to all these problems is simple but cuts throats of cronies:  cut gov spending by 50% or more?

seriously though, tax rates are low as hell for the rich yet people are bitching. Stop the charitable donation shit, half these fucks get their dough back and manipulate it to high hell.

When a middle class family is paying and effective tax rate of 30% and a millionaire 15% there is something wrong. Keep lowering taxes and watch the bottom fall out.

Nothing wrong with that, when the income is passive income.  Most of the "rich" paid a boatload of taxes on their way to becoming wealthy.  And they already carry the lion's share of the tax load today.  "Fair share" is a lie.

In any event, this isn't just about "millionaires."  It's about all those individuals and small businesses who fall under the "rich" umbrella because they generate over $250k a year.

I "learnt" lots from the election.  :)  I learned 29 or 30 states have Republican governors, Republicans control the legislatures and governships of 24 states, Republicans control the House, and the American people don't want taxes raised on anyone.

250,000 is a terrible number.
BTW, you didn't say that, you said "raising taxes", which is much different. I doubt any normal person would say "Yes, raise my taxes." But everyone is very quick to say "Raise taxes on everyone that makes more than me, they're rich and they can afford it".

Yes, we "learnt" that the election was a fraud. People who voted for Obama are mostly freeloaders who don't want to work and they really have no clue as to why they voted for him. Also, liberals.can't debate.without calling names and tend to flat out lie or at the very least, spin.it to.death. BTW, to prove the bullshit, Sandra Fluke got Time Person of the year and Tamera Holder got owned so bad on Hannity tonight, she should be running back to.Jesse Jackson in humiliation.

Yes, we "learnt" that the election was a fraud.

Of course - because after all, it didn't come out the way you wanted it to. So it had to be.

People who voted for Obama are mostly freeloaders who don't want to work and they really have no clue as to why they voted for him.

Most people don't really have a clue as to why they vote for who they vote and if you think otherwise, you are living in some weird fantasy world, in a gumdrop house on Lollipop Lane.

Besides, the simple fact is that Constitutionally suffrage isn't predicated on knowledge, social standing, desire to work, freeloader status, or how clueless someone is. The criteria that each voter uses to judge who to vote for are his own, whether the criteria involve analyzing a candidate's positions, flipping a coin, rolling a die, or asking someone else who to vote for.

Also, liberals.can't debate.without calling names and tend to flat out lie or at the very least, spin.it to.death.

My heavy-duty irony meter just exploded - and I mean it really exploded! Tiny mushroom cloud and all!

BTW, to prove the bullshit, Sandra Fluke got Time Person of the year

This proves what? That a magazine chose someone you don't like for a Person of the Year? I'm sure some publication aimed at women published a "Hottest Man in Hollywood" article... why should we care? What's Time, and who cares who it selects as person of the year?

and Tamera Holder got owned so bad on Hannity tonight, she should be running back to.Jesse Jackson in humiliation.

No idea who "Tamera Holder" is, but let's assume what you say is true: that she got owned bad. What, exactly does this prove? I mean, beyond the fact that "Tamera Holder" got owned? Is she the queen of the liberals, and if she's owned then it's game over? Or is she a super-liberal, composed of the essence of all the other liberals, so if she's owned, her constituent components are owned by a sort of weird proxy?

Well, you did learn some facts. But I'm curious: how did you learn that the American people don't want taxes raised on anyone? The short answer is you didn't. You can extrapolate that based on some of the election results but it's hardly something you can claim you learned directly from the election, anymore than you can claim you learned the recipe for the perfect chicken pot pie by looking at pictures of chicken pot pies on Google search.

You should strive to be accurate and truthful. After all, as a moderator you should be setting an example. Not spitting out nonsense.

Yeah the republicans are crying about an economy they ran into the ground yet they cry when someone wants to fix it as well. They want free-wars, free-tax cuts and then scream about the deficit.

Party of personal and fiscal responsibility my ass.
