The barefoot homeless man who was given a pair of shoes by a kind-hearted beat cop is wandering the streets shoeless again.
Jeffrey Hillman, 54, was spotted panhandling on the upper West Side Sunday without the $100 boots NYPD Officer Lawrence DePrimo bought for him on a frigid November night in Times Square.
“Those shoes are hidden,” Hillman told The New York Times after he was spotted walking around with no shoes on Broadway near W. 79th St. “They are worth a lot of money. I could lose my life.”
A tourist from Arizona snapped a cell phone photo of DePrimo giving the boots to Hillman on Nov. 14, and the picture quickly went viral, making the selfless cop a national celebrity.
“I appreciate what the officer did, don’t get me wrong. I wish there were more people like him in the world,” Hillman said.
“I want to thank everyone that got onto this thing. I want to thank them from the bottom of my heart. It meant a lot to me. And to the officer, first and foremost.”

Hillman told the newspaper he was from South Plainfield, N.J., and joined the Army in 1978, serving as “food service specialist” for five years before he was honorably discharged. He also said he’s the father of two grown children — Nikita, 22, and Jeffrey, 24.
“We love our brother very much,” Hillman’s brother, Kirk, of Nazareth, Pa., told the Daily News Sunday, adding that he was surprised to see his brother in the newspaper. “Our door is always open to him, but this is a lifestyle he’s chosen.”

Probably sold the shoes for a quick hit of heroin or a bottle of booze.

Haha, so the tourist just happened to have his camera pointed on the selfless little-paid officer handing out 100 dollar shoes to random homeless man and just wanted to share it with few of his buddies but accidentally turned out to become a story published in newspapers and tv-channels ??? ;D

No, I used to do this thing called "Midnight Run" back in the early 90's, the bad days, where we would go in the middle of the night to feed the bums for credit.
I called it "Midnight Bums" and got a few friends to go w me,. We would get tanked before hand and really mess w the bums, but it was funny since they were tanked too.
We would have contests who could dress up a bum in the most ridiculous ensemble. We would put pink sweatpants and a blue blazer on one bum, differnt collor and gloves and socks on another etc.

So i just heard on the news that this homeless fuck wants "a piece of the pie" because he's in the video w/o his permission.... wtf .....like millions of $$$ are rolling in bc of it...

No - what happened was that tons of people would donate food, clothes, etc and it was collected at a church. We would then go to the church, collect the stuff, and they rented us a truck, like a food vending truck to go around NYC to give out to the bums.
I needed like 100 hours credit to graduate and I was on the Track N. Field Team in college so this did not interfere w anything and we got 7 hours of credit at a clip.

You seem to have an affinity towards gaining pleasure from the misfortune of others; Schadenfreude
I didn't poke fun of homeless at age 13, or age 23 and not now at 33, drunk or sober. You're quite the piece of work Mr. 3.

This bum is now demanding $$$$$ and making the cop look like a chump for his good dead. Not all bums and drunk homeless are saintly people in need of pity or compassion.
This cop should go find this douch and bring a plunger w him. ;D ;D ;D ;D ;D

It was funny at the time, can't lie. I probably would not do it now though.

Another great suggestion. Wouldn't surprise me if this fellow had some form of mental illness. How you find anything to laugh about is beyond me.

These dudes were usually in the cold in shorts garbage bags, etc and looking for anything to toss over whatever rags they had on.
Looks like they are still around.

I was skeptical when I heard about it as well. I think it was definitely staged. But still a nice gesture on behalf of NYPD.
I bet you anything the homeless man sold his shoes for drugs or alcohol.

Still, some shark in a suit will back him just to sue, and get his 15 minutes of fame. Pretty shitty.

apt title! doesn't sound like a homosexual pastime at all!

why didnt the cop give the homeless guy a job?

why didnt the cop give the homeless guy a job?
Two reasons. He's a cop, not Walmart. And most of these guys don't WANT jobs. Too mentally ill, or lazy or apathetic.
