I can't say enough about this book. The 'Master Blaster' himself (Joe Weider) takes you through ALL of bodybuilding. I put on 40 lbs of muscle in a year and I'm still carrying my beat up old copy to Gold's. (I've read it hundreds of times and it's in rough and ragged condition!) Definitely THE BIBLE.
BTW I'm all natural.
-
is this book better than the arnold encyclopedia, and why?
-
Cool gimmick, bro.
-
you did not put on 40lbs of muscle natural in a year. pics or gtfo

I believe it is better. And remember: like Weider states in this book this is THE ONLY Bodybuilding book you will ever need. Takes you from square one all the way to competition training/diet to posing etc. Complete and comprehensive tome from The Master.
Congrats on breaking past your genetic limits and adding slabs of muscle to your physique.

There once was a dance held in Egypt. Everybody was having a great time except for a couple of people standing along the walls... Big Ach with his enormous nose along one wall, very lonely and wishing someone would at least come talk to him. He knew not many people would like to hang out with a guy who had such a huge nose.
Then, lo and behold, a woman with a wooden eye came up to him. She introduced herself and asked, "Would you like to dance?"
He was so excited! He said, "Would I? Would I?"
She fired right back at him, "Big nose! Big nose!" and ran away.

What happened to the days when a gimmick would wait a few 100 posts before unleashing the gimmickry?A true lost art.

Sounds like you're on your way. I've been using the Weider Double Split Routine and getting a lot of mileage out of the Weider Pre-Exhaust Principle. Good stuff man.

Actually, these are the articles which brought me to Getbig from some search engine (probably Yahoo or Altavista) more than a decade ago - I didn't even know for years that there was a "Boards" section:

This book is better
No kidding. That book changed my life in college.

Congrats on breaking past your genetic limits and adding slabs of muscle to your physique.
Thanks bro. You should check out the chapter on Powerlifting. Weider outlines a bodybuilding/powerlifting routine that really put me on my way.

If you are around long enough and get lucky the Good Dr lubeman, renowned psyconanist will give you an affectionate, generous and humble diagnosis.

I wish! Unfortunately I'm not qualified to carry the Master Blaster Joe Weider's gymbag.

Or when they used to be mildly amusing.

I really got these books when I first started off, just to learn about lifting... Although til today after 10 years of lifting I still refer back to the Arnold book for a refresher :)
I also had this book when I was playing football in high school:
And I have this book too, but I'm currently lending it to an Ex-NFL lineman who wanted to learn about dieting and bodybuilding prep:

I've read the encyclopedia as well. I can see where you get your "2-3 hr workouts everyday" mentality from. ;D
Have you ever tried doing less volume, like a more dorian-style workout?
Just curious, cause I've done both for many years; imo there's no difference in results.
-
here u can skip the books:
do a large volume of exercise where u cant continue after 10 reps and or 30 seconds
pushups etc
do it daily
watch body change

Lol - yeah I have - just never liked it..... never tried it long enough to say if I did or didn't see results!
I just genuinely like training for 2 hours! Stuck with whats worked for me I guess!

Thank you, I consider it a privilege.

I prefer the IRONMAN'S Ultimate Guide to Building Muscle Mass and Ultimate Guide to Bodybuilding Nutrition.
Actually, I just bought the former for $4 and change (the book was actually $0.02; the rest was shipping and tax) and the latter I checked out from the library.
