Title: Just ate baby back gator ribs
Post by: Irongrip400 on December 05, 2012, 03:44:46 PM
For dinner. I wasn't sure what to expect, but got them anyway. They were very good, just a little tougher than a normal pork rib. If you are ever in a restaurant that serves them, I'd recommend as a getbigger you go ahead and order some.

Gator is good.   The most cliched thing to say would be that gator tastes like chicken but that is about what it tastes like.

I have a couple good friends that managed restaurants that served gator dishes so I could pretty much eat for free whenever I wanted. Trying out gator was cool and something new at first but eventually I just said "fuck it" and went back to regular old chicken instead.

That is fucked up. Who would even want to try lion tacos? Gators are dirty, but lions are majestic.

Gator was too chewy, gummy, for me.

Rednecks here in Colorado eat mountain lion-tried some jerky once, but I couldn't get the thought of eating cat out of my mind.

Same here. When I see something on a menu that is a bit out of the ordinary, I usually try it. On my honeymoon in Italy I ate horse. You can't get that here in the states.

It's not chewey if you cook it correctly, can be soft as chicken when done right and quite tasty.  There are tons of restaurants in Florida that have gator on their menus.

A guy here at work just came back with a ton of Antelope jerky he made while hunting in Wyoming or something.  That stuff is really tasty, not too salty.

And Georgia as well.  I had some gator in Georgia and it was very tender.

you really shouldnt eat beings like this, wheres your soul?

sometimes friends cause heavily influences when it comes to these choices

more than likely they are weaker, shorter uglier friends, influecing lower minded behaviour

Lion meat isn't regulated in the U.S., some of it might be Mountain Lion, Liger, Lion, Tiger, etc.... In the linked article it explains some of it, but not the original source of the meat. If I were a betting man, I bet it's from private zoos, and similar. Folks are probably eating someone's old and maybe sickly pet  :-\ .

I ask to see the getbigger menu at any restaurant.

They'll serve you breakfast 24/7, they'll give your steaks as rare as you want, and liquor comes with everything.

Gator is good!  Had me some fried gator here in Florida and in New Orleans!

I imagine if I was required to battle the gator in order to eat it - it would not end the same way that it did!  ;D

waste of money.  protein needs calcium for the uptake.  Take it with fat free milk.
