Title: I remember the day Rob Halford came out of the closet
Post by: True Amateur on December 10, 2012, 07:51:16 PM
I took all my Priest cassettes and smashed them. I don't think it's appropriate for a straight man to listen to the voices of gays set to music. Call it my Christian upbringing or whatever. I much prefer George Thorogood anyway.

I'm sorry to hear that. I know it's tough these days, but we have to try to hold on to that Bible, even when society is trying to corrupt us as Christians. That's probably why Lee Haney is my favorite bodybuilder.

I'm sorry but like I said I smashed all of my Priest tapes. I will not honor the sins of a homosexual. You may feel differently, but I'm an old school Christian.

Anyone who uses "gay" as a reason to dislike a great band that they love to stop listening to them must be utterly ridiculous.

Priest was corny, like Iron maiden.

I liked "you got another thing coming"

I mean I'll listen to Van Halen from when Gary Cherone was singing. There's some Christian speedmetal that I like.

Probably why he was into all that angry thrasshy heavy metal shit, because of his inner torment.

I like maiden, especially 2 minutes to midnight. I remember buying killers as a kid and my mother hating that album cover, but some of their stuff gets sounding repetitious.

The early priest was awesome, sad wings of destiny is a super album.

If you look at the Maiden collection... Think of all of the epic tracks.

Prowler
Killers
Number of the Beast
Run to the Hills.
The Trooper
Flight of the Icarus
Sheriff Of Huddersfield
Almost everything on Powerslave.
Pretty much all of 7th Son of a 7th Son
Damn near everything on Somewhere in Time
TailGunner
Bring your Daughter to the Slaughter
The entire Fear of the Dark Album

And that's just the Di'anno and first Dickenson runs from like 77-92.

There are still a shit ton of great tracks AFTER that and "A Brave new World" (the return of Dickenson) was a fucking GREAT album from top to bottom. Dickinson's solo Metal stuff with Adrian Smith was freaking amazing as well. His Skunkworks project was pretty shit though.

Great band - Halford's sphincter fever is a little bit of a "bummer".

As kids we always used to make fun of the high pitched vocals though in hindsight these chariots of faggotry seem way cooler than the growling of our heros(death metal shit & co).
Iron Maiden, Jewdas Preest and the other metallurgists seem full of rituals and ocd behavior.

I could just never get into bands where the singer sounds like an opera singer, that overly dramatic singing style...just my personal preference

I've never seen them live, probably never will. Halford is over sixty now, he's embarrassing himself on the stage.

Maiden is great!

Priests best:

Painkiller: One of the best albums AND songs of all metal
Victim of changes: epic
Dissident aggressor: ahead of its time, very intense
The Sentinel: almost a bit of prog there
Beyond the realms of death: on of the all time best metal ballads
Battle Hymn/One shot at glory: incredible dueling lead guitars
Jawbreaker: great song, not so great lyrics (knowing that Halford is gay  ;D )

I don't like the simple songs, like Breaking the law, YGATC, etc....

I guess my favorite albums are Painkiller and Defenders of the faith (although Dave Holland was a horrible drummer).

I am a HUGE fan. Interestingly, my least favourite songs are the popular ones. And this isn't me being all kvlt, either.

Priest tried to sell out numerous times in their career unfortunately. Point of Entry, Turbo, etc.
