Anyone ever seen this? Follows Arnold quest for the 1980 "O". Interesting as there is more focus on Platz than Zane
-
I bought that on video back in the day. Always laughed at Platz trying to make himself out to be intelligent and philosophical and only succeeding in looking like a complete fuckwit.

In Zanes new book he said Arnold asked him to be featured in it. Zane, being the shy, aloof guy that he is, declined.

Thats a shame. It would have been funny if the film crew had been there when he fell and cut his peepee.
:D

Zane's a total nutbar in person. Had a swimmer's build a hundred years ago, now his head's a bag of cats.

Apparently, there were meant to be a bunch of other bb's in it, but they refused to allow their images to be used as a payback after the 1980 Olympia controversy.
Big mistake on their parts as it would have helped their marketability and careers.

Who were the ones that refused? Beside Zane.

Not thinking to clearly right now, but I know Boyer Coe was one of them, and one of the main ones that encouraged the boycott. Again, IMO not smart when you look at the big picture.

I can't imagine Mentzer would agree to say much in the film.
I do remember Samir Bannout looked very good compared to what he showed on stage.
Tinnerino came across well.

The big picture?
That was the only time bodybuilders actually stood up against IFBB political bullshit.
Of course, that didn't last very long and so now you have a melting Ronnie Coleman 'guest posing' and being called the 'greatest bodybuilder ever'...
::)
