I've seen pictures of Marky Mark's gym. If he spent that much he was ripped off big time.

and what would make a commercial gym pricey to equip is multiple numbers of treadmills and ellipticals that a home gym would not require.

Damn Vince looks happy on that machine.

As to Jose and Wahlberg, was the equipment old or new, and of the same make?

If so, I bet there was plug-ola going on there. Company comps or deeply discounts the stuff, gets free plugs in return.

No my golds gym spent over 4mil.

We are talking machines that cost 5-10 grand per piece and one for every bodypart, probably 2 of every type of cardio equipment, weights, small track, batting cage and a boxing ring with the works, factor in sauna, hot tubs, showers, mirrors, 1 million would go quick.

you don't have the bicep peak or lower chest that Arnold had but I think you've got just as much if not more muscle than he ever had. and you get in way better condition to.  just sayin.

you dont, he would mop the floor with you, but thats because of his genetic shape, peaked biceps, and thick lower chest.  but in terms of raw, conditioned muscle i think you are pretty damn close to if not beating him. your contest weight is similar to what his was right? and your a couple inches shorter? plus more conditioned.

This so called gym appears cold and uninviting from these pics.  Gyms are all about ambience -this place is devoid of any atmospere/spirit.

Yes coach, for someone who proclaims to be 'so busy' why in Christ's name do you spend endless hour after hour on GB.

That gym pulled in $39k last month....blow me. BTW, I don't work at 10:45 on a Saturday night. Do you think I'm the only one training people?? Do you go to a gym to train or the ambiance? If it's the latter, then you should re-evaluate your training.

I don't believe in dungeon training.  The warrior mentality is something that i find sad and appalling.

That's the point. I personally like the look of it with the big door in the back. Has a nice industrial feel. Many gyms have goofy decor anyways. This looks more modern. Keep the white walls and color of the floor!

Your boy is lacking depth, thickness and muscle maturity...calfs and quads are non existant....he appears narrow, pencil thin forearms, 13'' biceps (just guessing)...the t shirt appears to be hiding love handles and he has zero in the lats department.  Apart from that, needs just a bit of 'balancing out'.....Oh, forget to mention, your boy needs to work on the pencil neck and elongated cone head.

My apologies, I got the wrong idea after seeing "Kongo" having a shifty look around the gym then grabbing what he hoped was the janitors toolbag.....

Homo, he's Cheick Kongo, he doesn't need any of that. Love handles? LOL, what a simpleton you are.

The only thing he needs is to balance his striking-skills and work on his wrestling.

I like it. goes to show you don't need all the bells and whistles (I mean that in a good way) to have a good gym.

haha,   when my members demand that i get these new high tec pieces of equipment i say  ' i don't remember Arnold using that, and he was better built than all of us are gonna be'

people want shortcuts and something else to do the work for them. that equipment doesnt exist.

I agree with you in spirit but the logic of your argument is skewed.
None of us have Arnold's genetics or iron will drive to train.
That is why Arnold was Arnold regardless of equipment.
But I also agree that no amount of high tech gimmick machines can replace training intensity in the gym.
Thinking a trainer with big bouncey ball and clip board is going to transform your body is the real delusion.

Whether people want to believe it or not, there are smaller gyms similar to mine popping up everywhere. It's turning out to be a better business model than the traditional commercial gyms.

99% of gyms needs less machines and more dumbbells and benches.

Go into any gym during peak time and there will still be some machines collecting dust (think Vince's bicep machine) but everyone will be fighting over the 30-60lbs dumbbells.

used gym equipment in Calgary is selling for about ten cents on the dollar right now.  i just bought alot of new stuff last year, but i coulda got some smoking deals now if i hadn't.

it really depends on  how many gyms in your area are shutting down. lately it seems like a lot are. and the equipment takes a ton of room to store and is a pain to move, so it's being blown out.

Since we didn't resort to using investors, business loans or credit cards I have learned to be more resourceful with our funds, re-investing about 10% back in for equipment. I needed another squat rack and was going to go through Elitefts or Ray Crowthers but if we ordered, we would be looking at almost $4k for the rack, tax and delivery. One my neighbors has the welding and fabrication shop a few doors down from my gym. He's building almost the same rack with band attachments, monkey bar and storage for $1500.00. After he finishes this, he building a replica. Since we don't have machines (except a pulldown and seated row) equipping the gym is easy with equipment more effective than machines. But then again, I never had the intention of this being a bodybuilding-type gym.
