Title: logical or hysterical?
Post by: littledumbells on December 19, 2012, 05:55:35 AM
Which type are you? A thinking person or a hysterical sheep? Gun deaths are miniscule compared to say.......your doctor fucking up and killing you.....or an accidental death or a multitude of other things. But don't let facts and figures get in the way of your hysterical argument.

Never mind the facts that their doctor is more likely to kill them

What is this chart? There is a difference between accidental death and homicide. Maybe all of the other types of homicide combined are greater than gun homicides, but guns are still, far and away, the most used weapons in murders.

Neither.

We can do better to prevent all types of deaths.

Take away all the guns then, impossible but say its done, I doubt the murder rate changes significantly if at all. Then we will need to ban baseball bats which have been reported to be the next most popular weapon in murders. The method will change but I doubt the stats will. If a person bent on mayhem cannot procure a gun then perhaps they drive a car down a sidewalk of a city, maybe they get 5 gallons of gasoline or poison. Point is they will pick something to do the deed with. Combine all homicide stats, doctors, through mistakes/negligence still far surpass ALL homicides. Where is the fucking outcry over that? Seriously a person is 10X more likely to die at the hands of a doctors fuck up than from a nut with a gun. A person is many many times more likely to die in a car accident than from a gun but for some reason this is accepted. This is the hysteria I speak of. Want to save many many many lives? Ban cars, alcohol, drugs, tobacco, unhealthy eating habits, lack of exercise and stupid doctors. Those things WILL make a monumental difference in saving lives but good luck with those bans, just as banning guns will do little except embolden felons to commit more crime against an unarmed populace.

Drugs are illegal. Doctors go to medical school for years. Even to get a driver's license, you have to wait six months (ostensibly training to become a better driver) before you are fully licensed. So there is already a significant barrier weeding out the worst.

You can't commit murder with tobacco smoke, unhealthy eating habits or lack of exercise. A gun is a weapon. It has its uses, but it's a weapon.

Baseball bats aren't the next most popular weapon in murders. That's an internet myth. You don't even have to look it up, just think about it. Of the most recent murders you've heard about, how many involved people being beaten to death with a baseball bat?

All that medical school has done little to keep the stats down now has it? Its right near the top. Spare me the drivers license crap, that does little to nothing. Weeding out the worst??? Try driving around SoCal. A car is a weapon too. It has uses but it is still a weapon. I read about local deaths every week from drunk drivers,
felons fleeing police, teenagers racing.

I guess by your logic we should give gun owners more training. Even though 6+ years of training for doctors have then killing 10-1 more than guns.
Drivers have, generally a 6month probationary beginners period varies by state a bit,  yet they kill more people than guns. All that trainign does a lot of good or does it make it more acceptable?

So, by your logic, operating rooms should be staffed by high school students? I mean, doctors don't learn anything during medical school, internships and residencies, right?

They kill more people through mistake in spite of this awesome long training yet you give them a pass. Go figure

If doctors didn't go to medical school, how do you think that would affect the number of people killed in medical accidents? Do you think that number would stay the same? Or do you think it would rise drastically?

So you are saying we should stop training them?
