Umm.... heavy debt never really was a communist thing.
USSR for example had zero national debt at the beginning of loser-Gorbachev's rule.

The spendng is due mostly to social security Medicare and defense. Those three would be at the same level no matter who was president.         Ussr was never really communist

Ussr was never really communist

well it was not, as America never was really a capitalistic free market economy.
But to make things simpler we talk this way.

Were there regulations on trade back in the 1700s and early 1800's? America was pretty close to pure capitalism.   There has never been a country that cam close to pure communism.

i doubt any of you know what communism is, beyond your regan-esque quasi-notions of the various dictatorships of the ussr, which certainly weren't much to do with actual communism.

I think it was summed up best by Marx "The theory of the Communists may be summed up in the single sentence: Abolition of private property."

A reductive assessment as this is about 1% of the puzzle , but yes you are not technically incorrect.

communism is what kept capitalism somewhat fair at some time.

dj181, you think the nations where usa and uk instal puppet governments are better of than the ussr satelites have been?

good question, and honestly i'm not sure if they are better in fact, but i can say that they have and were allowed more individual freedoms than the phewssr governments
