Title: Reasonable perspective on gun control...
Post by: WOOO on December 23, 2012, 07:50:51 AM
I do not want to live anywhere where I would feel the need to keep a gun in my home to 'protect' anything...

That's it...

If I felt threatened, I would move.

Door locks also protect the home.

Do you ever lock your doors at night, or before leaving your residence?

slippery slope fallacy

I'll take that as a yes. ;)

The point is, you don't have to feel, or have been threatened to want to "protect" yourself as a precaution:
Deadbolt locks,
Home security systems,
Guns,
Dogs,
etc.

Statistically, there are areas that are safer than others, but bad things can happen to anybody anywhere.

Not feeling threatened doesn't guarantee that you are unconditionally safe and that taking precautions is senseless. That, too is a bit of a continuum fallacy that ignores a lot of middle ground.

All rules are perfect.  And all arguments, even yours has flaws.  I don't fear anything regarding the 2nd amendment.  Nor do it fear for my life in movie theaters, schools, malls etc.

But when in Canada Make sure not to carry pepper spray when touring your capital buildings.   Because a loon could get some a terrorize Canada with it.

Serious, so when faced with deadly force, you stay and fight!  I imagine in your spare time, with your bare hands you tackle Lions and Bears, just to show the locals what a REAL MAN you are!  What a wanker!
