Even as a relatively young guy, I've seen and played alot of football in my day. Calvin Johnson is a different animal. 6'5 236lbs for a wide receiver is insane. I think a WR of his size, strength, speed and skills would have been unfathomable just 20 years ago. In addition, he's not a diva unlike 99% of other WR and he seems like a good dude. Finally a guy most will feel worthy of breaking Rice's records. Props. He's a fucking monster. Well deserved.

Yeah, I believe so also. Dude has zero fat on his body, moves like a fucking gazelle, and is very strong. I don't give a shit as long as he feels comfortable doing what he's doing. Oh yeah, crazy hops also. He's a living cheat code. 8)

He is the best WR in the league easily for the past two years and probably for the next several, although his stats are inflated against what Jerry Rice did, a lot of garbage yards this season when the game was already over and his team blown out plus the rules make it easier to pass the ball today than they did in the late 80s.

Yes, dude is a beast for sure. The product of
eugenics great genes.

good points... but rice also had far better passers helping him along

I'm a huge Randy Moss fan (on the field when he doesn't feel like taking plays off.lol) but Megatron can do everything while Moss was mainly a deep threat. Dude is unstoppable.

very true. Calvin Johnson is probably the greatest physical specimen as far as receivers go followed by Randy Moss. Terrell Owens is also a up there.

Larry Fitzgerald is #2. He's just on a shitty team. I don't want to understate him. BTW, really smart fella.

forgot about him, Fitzgerald is up there but Id sill put moss over him. Moss was taller, longer and faster than Fitzgerald. Fitzgerald is just more skilled, can catch the ball better and a better route runner.

So it took him 15 games to break a record that Rice did in 14. Hmmmm. Something doesn't add up.
Sadly he'll never have as many superbowls as Rice.

I thought the Rice TD record was done in 14 during a strike season. 95 were 16 game seasons, unless I'm forgetting a strike?

Not even relevant. CJ did it facing at least double coverage on nearly every down and while being the only viable offensive weapon on his shitty team.
The guy is a complete beast.

Imagine what kind of numbers CJ could put up with Joe Montana and Steve Young throwing to him

They interviewed Jerry during the game last night, he said he knew he would break it, and was glad that it wa C.J. thet did it!

i find it a little hard to compare passing statistics from today to passing statistics from 10+ years ago. passing for a 15 yard gain has become easier than rushing for 5. half the quartebacks in the league are putting up numbers that would have made them the best in the entire league a little over a decade ago. drew brees is putting up numbers that would have put him in the hall of fame if he did it in the 90's.
all that being said, calvin johnson is a fucking beast

Megatron has always shown he was going to be something special. Nothing happening here is at all unexpected.
-
Imagine how good Rice would've been if he played under the current NFL rules.
The game is now catered towards WR.
If you sneeze on one it's pass interference.

This is very true... Or a 16 game season.

I hate to ask a question I could probably answer myself by consulting Google, but fuck, I'm lazy and don't care anymore.
Why is this cat called Megatron? I mean, I know he's a killer athlete and all, but Megatron, as in 25 feet tall, put a fusion cannon up your nose Megs? :D

True...But when Walsh invented the "west coast offense", it took teams years to figure out how to stop it. Rice was able to put up massive yards because of that system.

I don't know for sure. But if I had to guess, i'm guessing the nerds in Fantasy Football had something to do with it.
