Revenge of the Nerds was, is, and shall remain, one of the truest guilty pleasures of our beloved '80s. Great characters (Booger, Wormser, Ogre), great lines ("Hey guys ... wonder joints"), one of the best musical scenes of the decade and an epic finish.
And though a few sequels have tarnished the spit-polish shine of the 1984 movie, Revenge of the Nerds and its legacy haven't faced an opponent like this since the Alpha Betas: reality TV.
Yes, TBS has greenlit a new unscripted competition series called King of Nerds, featuring two of the movie's stars: Robert Carradine and Curtis Armstrong (Lewis and Booger.) According to a press release obtained by Ain't It Cool News, "the show invites competitors spanning the full nerd spectrum to come together to face challenges that will test their intellect, ingenuity, skills and pop-culture prowess. The nerds will first compete as teams before moving on to individual challenges, all with the goal of being named the quintessential master of all things nerdy." It's expected to air this fall.
Our first suggested challenge: Coming up with better ideas for TV shows. Because the Alpha Betas who are currently running the networks couldn't win a belching contest. (*Actually, I'd still love to interview Lewis or Booger, and there are far-worse ideas out there. A little '80s love never hurts. Best of luck, Robert and Curtis.)
