yeah some but brunt of pain/pump is hamstrings,,,,best way to describe and form is to lock out knee almost leave a little room ,arch back and go down straight not rounding out the back on the stretch,,,

Only if Bob Chicks spotter has been behind you the while set.
-
yes if you go all the way up because you engage your lower back. I find it better to stop before your all the way up, just go high enough to engage the hamstring then go back down.

Try an RDL. Youtube it for form. If I have lower back soreness after this, it means my form was off. Otherwise, no pain.

i usually do... nice hot shower and some stretching helps
no homo

If you have a dodgy lower back/spine... avoid this exercise.
-
I think if youre strong enough on your regular deadlift you will avoid most if not all soreness on SLDL's.
I dont think its abnormal though, I usually didnt get lower back soreness from SLDL's but the weight I used was about 150+ lbs less than my regular deadlift weight.

fixed , and I do unless I lube up quite a bit when training at the downtown bathhouse. :D

haha...
Thanks people, very helpful. I've always had what I consider to be normal soreness from it. Just wanted to make sure I wasn't destroying my back or anything. Everything feels okay.
I do accidentally lean back some at the top, and I'll stop doing that.

I forgot about those, thanks I'm going to give it a shot.

hamstring tip:
alwas do leg curls before Stiff leg deadlifts. After getting a nice pump in the hamstrings with leg curls, move onto stiff leg deadlifts. you can really feel the hamstring working this way, also takes lower back out of it, as hamstrings fatigue before the back.

Cool, I'll do that next time. I've always done it the opposite.
I swear I think dead lifts (stiff and regular) are doing more for me than anything. After eight years or so, I almost don't look like a fat teenager anymore. ;D

RDL's is a posterior chain exercise (hamstrings, glutes, low back). It's not unusual for it to be sore. We do a single leg RDL.

heres tip for back training:
if you doing deadlifts(for the back, which means you bend you knees) bring them down to your shins but dont touch the ground(look at dorians "blood and guts" in the back training part if you want to see a visual). it becomes a totally diffrent movement as the stress is constant. Your back becomes so insanely pumped its crazy. you feel the lats, rhomboids, traps, lower back, everything pulling and contracting. its nothing like a regular deadlift(where you touched the ground, wait, then pull up again). I personally perfer these over regular deadlifts.

I love SLD's, they are a real compound exercise working several muscle groups including the lower back, hams, glutes and even calves.

Guys, you are so immature. Pick up a bodybuilding mag or look online and I am sure you can see Lee training his hamstrings doing SLD's. You are both coming accross as super gay.

what weight/reps/sets do you guys do on leg day? ???

what weight/reps/sets do you guys do on leg day? ???
I like to do 6 sets per exercise and high reps for legs. I find you get more growth if you push past the pain barrier and just zone out to get those reps. I use moderate to heavy weight.
-
This is one exercise I use on rare occasions when my back goes out. My hamstrings and lower back really get a nice stretch that seems to fix any of my back problems.
-

1 set til failure on full squats with an 80 pound dumbbell in each hand for 15-20 reps
