Gospel and CCM music isn't everyone's cup of tea, but I do love these songs and thought I'd share.
Feel free to share music from your faith that you also enjoy, but don't bother posting any negative commentary about Christians, Hindus, Muslims, Catholics, etc.... or their music.....I'll just wipe it out. This thread isn't about airing your faith-based grievances...it's about music we enjoy within our faiths, but don't even think about posting Satanic music LOL!

The board was heavily populated with some Muslim posters for awhile, but they have all left.
Religion threads that start on the G&O and eventually land here die because folks in the know are aware I mod the board and that here they lose the "pile on fun".....I'll actually moderate the thread LOL. It's hard to do that on the G&O because there's so much activity.
There's really only a few folks that regularly post in religion threads on the G&O that will post here as well.
Also, it's just not as fun when there's more of a one on one thing happening.
The reality is virtually nobody cares about religion and all the majority wanna do is make fun, take potshots, display general ignorance (although unintended)....they get to do that on the G&O while others "pile on".
Start the exact same religion thread here and on the G&O (at the same time) and you'll get virtually no activity here and a ton there.

I understand. I like the gospel tunes, by the way. Not the Christian Rock and whatnot, but the old school bluesy stuff. Lots of soul there.

This song represents a great deal of how I want others to perceive me each and everyday....that in each and every encounter Jesus Christ is represented.
I'm certainly not a perfect witness, but I work towards it.

Ultimate Gospel by Elvis and the Sam Cook Gospel collection are a couple of good ones. I listen to gospel music more than one might expect and I find I enjoy the classics like How Great Thou Art and Touch the Hem of His Garment over the newer gospel music by a wide margin. In my opinion, the traditional Gospel music has a majesty modern gospel doesn't. This is just one white man's opinion.

The old hymns have a wonderful depth to them....the lyrics are almost God-breathed in some cases (IMHO).
Modern gospel and modern southern gospel has some wonderful songs, but the foundation of these modern songs are the old hymns. I love em.

Just thinking lyrically is all. Plus, there's that Rattle and Hum version of "Still Haven't Found" with the church choir ...
Great record nonetheless.

The man has a great voice. I never had much of a appreciation for bluegrass music until I got a little older.

Nice, lots of great music in this thread. I know most of it, but some of it is new to me. I will most likely come back and use this thread as a playlist at some point in the future.
Before I post some of my favorite songs, let me share my testimony concerning music. When I became a Christian about 18 months ago, I made the decision (after stumbling across K-Love and Air-1 on the radio) that I would not listen to anything but Christian music. Not because I had to, but because I wanted to. I lost all interest in music that did not bring glory to God. And I know that was one of the best decisions I have made since becoming a Christian. Music is such a powerful weapon, to either build us up in the faith our tear us down in temptation. I highly recommend to anyone reading: make the switch to only Christian music. You won't be disappointed. And more importantly, GOD. :)
Now, one more thing... I notice lots of modern Christian music being posted. K-Love artists, and the like. I have a cool story to share about K-Love artists. A couple weeks ago my wife and I volunteered to work at a Christian concert, helping a Christian organization raise funds. We knew that many of the K-Love artists were going to be there, but we figured we would be outside the concert venue, and working with people, unable to see or hear much of the concert. But little did we know, God has other things in store for us. Long story short, we ended up down on the floor just feet in front of center stage for the entire concert! 8) The first video below is a little clip I took while there, my wife dancing around to Jamie Grace.
:)
Now, on to some of my favorite music.
and , out of the modern music currently on the radio, i like this one best..
Praise God for this music, for this thread, for you people posting in this thread, and for you people reading this thread. I pray these songs are a blessing to you. In Jesus name...
Amen

Awesome post and testimony.....I couldn't agree more.
There is some great secular music out there, but ultimately I desire worship and praise music that glorifies God. Fills me up from top to bottom!!
For me it's scripture, prayer and worship music that energizes me! Music is a wonderful, wonderful tool!!
I'm a southern gospel man myself, but I do enjoy CCM, praise music and old country and bluegrass tunes that glorify God!

A few songs
This one is a modern, dance-sounding, up tempo, high energy, positive track. I really like it.
This one is a classic. Very soothing and warm, joyous and celebratory. Love the lyrics, we congratulate people for all sorts of things, but never for coming to the Lord. I really like the idea of congratulating someone for making the most important decision they could ever make, and making it correctly. Even more, if someone won a prize of some large amount of worldly wealth and power, we would congratulate them. How much more should we congratulate those who have been given the gift of eternal life in Christ. :)
And, finally, a bit of something different. :D
