Title: Boehner - Pass a budget or dont get paid

"the House will move forward on its No Budget No Pay act, which directs both chambers of Congress to adopt a budget resolution for FY 2014 by April 15, 2013. If either body fails to pass a budget, members of that body would have their paychecks put into an escrow account starting on April 16 until that body adopts a budget."

Apparently the pay must be released when the current congress ends but at least its a start.

They don't want a budget in the Senate since they either have to propose massive tax hikes or massive spending cuts.

Dumb idea.

Puts them in a no-win situation now.

If they come up with a solution and it is later deemed less that satisfactory, they will be accused of doing it to prevent a loss of income.

If they don't come up with a solution, they'll be cnuts for not fixing the budget.

Anyway - fuck the escrow account - they should give the money to charity. Delaying payment is hardly a punishment is it?

There hasn't been a budget in 3 years and this is their best idea?

Yes, just a gimmick.  If they passed it and the date approached, they'd just extend anyways.

it was passed in the house and reid appluaded it, Im kinda skeptical seeing as there is agreement on this.

i believe it was attached to an debt limit extension

ha!  Now watch as the deadline approaches if they don't just extend it when their checks start getting held up (assuming no agreement).
