You don't realize how important traps are until you develop your lats and realize you have a big flat spot in the middle.

That's what has happened to me...  :(

There were a lot of good backs, Francois, Flex, Shawn Ray, and even Levrone at certain times. John Sherman, Cormier, Aaron Maddron, Dennis Newman, Bob Paris, Rory.

I don't know. Dorian and Ronnie are neck and neck for width, and detail. 1993 Flex is right up there in terms of detail, but he lacked width due to being narrow.

Yes that generally tends to be the reason for lacking width ;D

I'm not sure if this is a top 20 back of all time, but it was definitely great and certainly better than Newman or Titus or Prince...guys he was competing against at the NPC level. I always thought he should have done better as a pro. True freak, but good aesthetics too.

Also, Dente had a great back in the amateur ranks too (seems like a lot of guys did in those days...Francois, Cormier, Wheeler, Hernon, Dente, etc...).

Hard to fathom why they never gave this guy a pro card. That's how loaded the field was. I remember he was robbed by John Simmons at the North Americans one year, where Dente should have won I thought.

It's amazing how stacked the NPC ranks were in the 90s. Greatest era ever for the NPC. Dente never got a pro card, but in that shape he's in in this video, he would have crushed this year's field at the Nationals or USAs.

I agree I wouldn't call Flex narrow, he just wasn't as wide as Ronnie or Dorian!
