Title: I hate Ebooks.
Post by: MikMaq on January 24, 2013, 06:26:27 PM
Can someone explain why there are like 15 different type of ebook file formats.

Seriously what is with this it's a fucking text file.

VLC covers all my video needs, and yet I have 5 different readers.

Oh yes to keep it body building related I'm trying to read a book about lifting heavy objects.

The only thing I like about them is the convenience. Other than that, I'd much rather have a book in hands.

You can read?  ???

I don't know about the other formats but I have a million in Epub.  You can get an awesome Ebook reader that reads most formats for your smart phone called Aldiko.

What I want to know is this.  Someone did the "book lending" thing to me on Amazon.  I do not have a Kindle but I can read on my computer.  How can I take that book and convert to PDF because the "lending" only goes for 15 days?

I've got a program called Calibre.

It converts anything I want and puts it directly onto my Kindle.

they also usually cost less than buying the book and more money from ebooks goes to the author than they would get from a hard copy sold.  All around bonus for the author and the reader.

The only way greedy ass publishers are going to survive in the coming years is to stop screwing writers out of their fair share.  The days of them giving a couple pennies per book sold to the author are over--even shitty authors selling online are making more than that.

Get an iPad. Kindle and nook have apps. And epubs can but synced via iTunes to iBooks.
