Title: 2014 Corvette C7 on Jay Leno's Garage
Post by: Parker on January 25, 2013, 04:33:06 AM
Here it is, close up, and more indepth. One thing, I think the vents should be body colored. It would give it a more polished look. And I also think the lower rear fascia and diffuser should be body colered as well.

Convergent evolution in terms of design? It was bound to happen.
Whereas if you look at the 550/575 Maranello an the C6 you see a resemblance due to the headlights and the intake, yet the 550 came out in 96ish. And the 1/2 Gen Viper with its NACA duct looked similar to the 550, from the front.

Or is this a type of parallel evolution, whereas two related cars (Corvette being a front engine car, and Ferrari having a line of Front Engine GT sports cars) all being design with certain packaging, headlight (C3 Corvette started its flip up headlights, and the Ferrari 365 started with its flip up head lights), that eventually it was inevitable that they were going to look similar. Yes, they were going with more "sexy" for the Corvette, but sice when is it that Ferrari and Euro cars can only do sexy?

that looks nice, but I hope the interior gets a good grade this time......the ZR1 has been criticized for having a cheap looking interior for a sports car well over $100,000.....

You are Kidding.  That's crazy for that car.  I think it is going to be a common street ride.  They really under valued it.

that is the estimate. Even still, they want gen x and y to be interested in this car, and money is what our generations are concern about. This is the "base" vette or trim level, aka Sting Ray. Many people on other forums are saying that they'd cross shop this with the next BMW M3. And there has always been a rivalry with the 911, which I think this car now can really say that it is truly a rival.

Such a fail at 450HP. If you are making a Stink Ray at least give it more HP than a fucking Lexus or BMW M5 sedan.  Make it a beast, a road rocket.  Give it 600+HP.  Lame attempt with a lame engine

Looks good but for one thing and this is my opinion and personal taste.

The front headlights do not look "vette" at all.

The Corvette with 450hp will destroy an M5 because it is 1000lb lighter. For the price of an M5 radiator, the Vette can be modded to push 600hp.

the only Callaway Corvette that I think should be in a sentence with the C7, is the Callaway C7

At first I did not like the interior and now it has grown on me. Love how the head unit can lower and provide storage behind. Even the rear is growing on me. With wider tires it will look really nice. Good job!

I use to be able to drive any car off the lot and use it for various school functions and will always remember the excitement caused by driving a 1965 Corvette Coupe ....

Back then a basic price of approximately $4,000.

The Corvette was becoming a serious sports car.

honestly the body looks like a bad mesh of different designs..the overall styling doesn't seem consistent. The trunk looks awful, too many air vents also.

would not hit

do you like it...more than her?
Funny, there is a 2012 manual with Comp package near me, for 74k, Interlagos blue, with carbon fiber roof.
But, there is a Ford dealership with 3 Mustang 302s for 45k...more hp, similar performance...
And a collectors item. Of course w/o BMW luxury/quality.
I'd say the Domestics are starting to make a good case for themselves.

I always like the M3's but the cost of ownership is downright borderline retarded.  I haven't driven the late model Stangs, do they still drive like bathtubs on wheels?  That's the one thing I always hated about domestic cars is the handling just can't compare to the Japanese or Germans.  The only time the Japanese fucked that up, at least in my own experience is with the Supra's.  Super fast car in a straight line, especially once that 2nd turbo kicked in, but like driving with 100kilos of led in the trunk around a track.

true...but, BMW still  has that 4 yr free maintenance thing, correct? And of course BMW and their M Division are notorious when it comes to engines. I think the Lexus IS-F (current one) will hold up better in terms of reliability and depreciation.
I've driven the GT, and it handles...you can still tell its a live rear axle when going over bumps and a corner. It just aint M3 handling.
As for the 302, well...they wanted it to best the M3 at Laguna Seca, and according to them it did (Laguna Seca edition)

I get out of saying "it's her's" when someone says nice car. They always seem a little surprised by that.  My 530i is downright boring next to her car.
