Title: Heavy Barbell Shrugs - WTF?

Are you suppose to hold the bar off your body, or bend slightly frontwards so it hangs away a little bit?  If I do heavy barbell shrugs, it's hard for me to keep the bar from rubbing up against my penis.   ???

db shrugs are far superior.....imho

Bend your knees and lean forward slightly. You get a better ROM this way and avoid genital injury.

i agree...or do them behind your back...or use a trap bar if available ..

i like the fatter grip and the way that the weight hangs a bit lower than the dumbbell version
