DALLAS - An elderly man shot and killed a would-be burglar inside his Oak Cliff home.
Police say the homeowner saw Deyfon Pipkins, 33, trying to climb into the window and fired his weapon at least once at the intruder.
The homeowner is legally protected by the Castle Doctrine, which allows a person to defend his or her home against an intruder.
"It means they don't actually have to retreat once someone comes in their home," Sergeant Calvin Johnson, Dallas Police Department, said. "You have the option of using deadly force if you believe your life is in danger."
After police notified relatives of Pipkins' death, some showed up at the house. They were upset, and questioned the homeowner's actions.
"He could have used a warning," Lakesha Thompson, Pipkins' sister-in-law, said. "He could have let him know that he did have a gun on his property and he would use it in self-defense."
Pipkins had a lengthy criminal record. He served time in prison and was convicted of theft, possession of a Controlled Substance and criminal trespassing.
The homeowner has not been charged with anything, but Dallas police will refer the case to the Grand Jury to decide if he acted criminally in shooting the intruder.

A warning shot? The burglar should have send the homeowner a letter of intent.

a few yrs back, an elderly. Baltimore man shot and killed someone who was breaking into his shed at 11 pm. Turns out it was an 11 yr old kid, who was trying to get to the quad in the men's shed. The parents of this young lad, said the man didn't have to shoot him...the man said he he didn't know who was breaking into his shed. Yeah, like he is gonna ask "how old are you?"

Taking out the trash , his criminal record is EIGHTEEN fucking pages long well that bullshit just ended

True Adonis knows about this one..There was a case a few years back where a group of teenagers broke into a man's garage, when he came into the garage they all took off running, from his garage he started shooting and as they ran away, one he hit in the back and the kid died. He was found not guilty..

Parents fault, if their kid thought he could break into places without any consequences, lol.

yep...you see Baltimore has a HUGE problem with kids on dirtbikes and quads. Gangs of kids (from 20-80) ride these thru-out the streets weaving in and out of traffic. And many of these are stolen. Up and down the eastern seaboard, there is a big illegal business with these quads.
And the kid wanted to be in on this illegal activity.
When your 11 yr old child is out at 11pm trying to break into someone's property---something tells me that there is problem at home. And then you are going to blame the home owner for shooting him, when he didn't know who that person is breaking into his property?

yep...you see Baltimore has a HUGE problem with dirt kids and quads. Gangs of kids (from 20-80) ride these thru-out the streets weaving in and out of traffic. And many of these are stolen. Up and down the eastern seaboard, there is a big illegal business with these quads.

I remember you posting that video of all the people riding quads and dirt bikes around the city. I think you're the one that posted it. That shit was fucking unbelievable and hilarious!! I would have never known that was going on. ;D

Protecting his property from your relatives?

Hahahaha "deyfon" :D

But what is Shaniqua's opinion?

The police can't...they can't (are not supposed to) chase, because accidents happen...you'll see groups of kids weaving in and out of traffic during rush hour gridlock---dudes on quads hopping up on side walks, and then onto the streets.
The police do try and crack down on the quad and dirt bike theft...as i said, many of the bikes are stolen, vin numbers filed off...and can be traced to other counties and even other states...it's big underground buisness.
look up the 12 o' clock boys...wtf was the old man doing creeping around in the shed in the darkness anyway?
Apparently he heard somebody in his shed. It's baltimore city, so the sheds are real close by.

Yep...I've seen it myself. one time I was in traffic, and all these kids were weaving in and out traffic, and this was back in 1999.
And a few yrs ago, back in 2008, I was walking downtown, and I hear al these dirtbikes and quads, there had to be at least 30-40 of them in the treet and dippin on and off the sidewalks...and these kids passed and some splintered off down the street I was walking, then a police car came roaring past. the other way.
