Obviously impressive, but what does an OL need with a good 40?  How many times are they sprinting down the field? A good 40 doesn't mean a good OL.

Running an offensive screen patterns could exploit said fast lineman's abilities. Also halfback tosses to the side of the quick lineman could allow big gains for the offense. But in all reality, for a lineman the first 10yrds are what matter the most.

I kind of agree. But a 40 is a measure of explosiveness into acceleration. Coaches are more interested in the 10 yard split. If the split is in the 1.5-1.8 range that should put them in the money.

Freakiest offensive lineman ever when you take that run down and combine it with a 700 pound bench press, albeit not super strict.

Coach, are you sure that's a record?

Mike Schaad was 313 lbs and ran a faster 40 than that.

Or is that the fastest electronic time for an OL?

Kind of like the time Vince Carter dunked completely over that 7'+ dude in the Olympics where the athletic feat just looks digitally altered and you gotta rewind it just to make sure it's real. 8)

Yep, first ballot too. That's one of those deals where his name is called out for consideration then all the sportswriters just say "Yes...next"  :)
